Hello, I'm new to coin magic and magic. I was wondering what the difference between the two is. All help is appreciated.

Boston box has a little something extra which allows a very convincing display of a "full" box. Well worth having both [identical] boxes!

Thank you so much. I think when I am confident with sleight of hand, I'll get a Boston box.

If you are new to coin magic, you better be reading Bobo. Chapter 10 will tell you all you need to know about the differences, including the story of their invention.

I have Bobo's. I've had it for about 2 weeks now. I can't get enough of it. I practice everyday, but thanks, I'll look it up.

I know how you feel. I've had to glue the cover back on 3 times.

To add more confusion, there is also another box called a "Slot Box". Each of the 3 boxes has pros and cons. Each box can be used to produce certain illusions that the other 2 cannot. .

You may consider using a normal pill box and do some Okito effects. It's not as hard as it seems, and it will fool the people who know about the Okito box.
The hinge and the locking device supply a great convincer. It is easy to do an in with four (or five) with a normal pill box, and the prop is very credible.

I enjoy both. David Roth has some fine routines in his DVDs; it's worth checking out. Good Luck.

Get a Boston Box and a Slot Box, they are great and the routines you can do will knock the sox off people. I use them both a lot and love them.

RSTOUT,
Eventually you'll want to try both the Okito and the Boston , and probably some of the other variations on the coin box; but for now you have the right attitude, get used to working with just coins before adding the complication of a prop like a coin box. |
