I recently bought some Bee decks online. I haven't seen them available in Australia.
They had the green sticker that was mentioned, but the bottom of the case was glued shut. Since I've never handled Bee brand cards before, I can't really say, but they feel good to me. |

The other thing that I have noticed about the fake decks is that the printing on the box was not quite as crisp as the real Bee decks. But this is hard to tell unless you are looking really carefully at the surface of the boxes. Levent

Is the barcode on the bottom of the legit decks and the counterfeit decks the same?

I have a few of the fake deck as well. I live 15 minutes from U.S. playing card and Haines house of cards. Maybe I should take a trip over there with a few decks and let them take a look for themselves. I never really thought a bout it when I got them I noticed they were rip offs but wasn't really concerned at the time because I was just using them to try out some new gimmicked card ideas I had. So I was ripping and cutting most of them , but now that I think about it I should take the trip over there.

I posted in the sale and trade section looking for some of the counterfeit decks for a consumer awareness event I'm performing and speaking at coming up - if any of you have some for sale please let me know.
I need both the ones that came with the green sticker on them as well as the ones that did not have the sticker. PM me if you have any to get rid of as I'd like to include them in my display at the event. Thanks |

Knock off Bee and Bicycle cards are commonplace here in Asia. And as was said before, everything you guys make elsewhere, every prop, every dvd and every book, HAS been copied somewhere in Asia.
I wouldnt be upset that they are making the cards. Id be sad that CVS is buying them, then selling them back to you! |

Here are a few facts for you, chias, and the rest of you, as well. China is not a signatory to any of the intellectual property agreements that the majority of the world recognizes. Neither is India. This means that in China, it is perfectly legal for them to copy ANYTHING that is made in other countries. They can sell it in their own country, and there isn't squat that we can do about it. However, once it crosses the border or the shore into the United States, it becomes illegal. The main violation is that of trademark. I've posted this elsewhere, but I will point it out now. If you own the rights to any magic trick, make sure that you have a genuine USPTO trademark for it. It costs $320, and it's good for a very long time. You can even register your trademark on line, without the benefit of a lawyer. If you have a book or a DVD that you have printed or produced, make sure you copyright it, including the LOC registration. I don't know if you have heard about the raids that the Feds conduct from time to time on warehouses of imported material that violates trademarks. Six weeks ago in Houston, $3 MILLION worth of bogus sunglasses were confiscated. The people who sell these things write it off as a cost of doing business. However, if every magic producer were to file complaints on the magic dealers who regularly import items that violate US trademarks, they could shut this business down very quickly. The average magic shop is not financially stable enough to absorb the cost of a federal raid. USPCCo could do this to CVS and all the other retailers of these cards, and it would call this business to a halt. If they are importing bogus cards from overseas, where are their pharmaceuticals coming from?

I just bought a deck of CVS cards (their own brand) for $2.39, thinking they were at least comparable to the 99¢ Royale brand that Longs formerly sold (I like to use cheaper cards for mercury folds, etc). Wow, the CVS cards were much poorer quality! Interesting ... it wasn't til I opened the flap that I found the cards were made in Malaysia!
Bill Palmer's remark is quite correct by the way. Altho these products may be made in many different countries (not just China), they are in fact distributed by US companies. So, altho this thread is about Bee's; it applies to other cards as well. |

We do not have Bee's here in my area of Florida at least that I know of. He have Hoyle brand which are very good quality in my opinion. Hoyle is in Cincinnatti Ohio. come sealed and then wrapped in clear cellophane and also has a small black and red seal on the bottom ((easy to pick off) and the bottom is also glued.
Have not yet spotted any fakes near hear yet. (YET!) mightydog David
Illusion and magic is the same, if it was possible to achieve the impossible by genuine powers then it wouldn’t be impossible and therefore it wouldn’t be magic. That’s why magic is an art; the art of creating the illusion of the impossible.
