Just recently I found out an guy was cleaning out a sealed up storage shed that had been rented for a while. The rent lapsed and the items taken out. All that was in it, were posters, a leather jacket, hat and a newspaper clipping.
The posters were for Carter The Great. It was a stack of the "Carter Worlds Weird Wonderful Wizard" poster. I know of 6 that I have seen personally, and 4 of those are in Very Good to Mint condition. The other 2 have small punch holes on them, as if they were hung up, then taken down. Apparently there were many more than those 6. But that cannot be verified at this time. As for the jacket, hat and newspaper. The paper shows Carter standing by an airplane wearing the exact same, jacket and hat that were found with the posters! The posters can be found here and there. What I would like to do, is trace the history of the jacket and hat and its relationship to the airplane story. I don't know much of Carters life. Did he fly a plane? (similar to Houdini?) Also, what was his relationship to Asheveille? How did all this end up here? I am planning a meeting with the finder to see all the artifacts up close. And hopefully shed some more light on the subject. If any of you knows anything that may help please pm or email me. chad@chadsanborn.com I will keep you updated as I know more! Chad |

Find a copy of Mike Caveney's book "Carter the Great". If you are interested in Carter's history, this is the ultimate resource.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

I spoke with Mike about all of this, and as far as he knows, Carter never flew in an airplane or piloted one. So this was news to him.
Once I can see all of these things myself, I will believe it. Until then, I remain skeptical. But this would be something odd to fake. Chad |
