Let me get it right this time.
"4 X 4", by Wilf Huggins is an old favorite of mine, which allows cards to be EXAMINED at its conclusion. In brief: Two packets of 5 matching cards are displayed (5 A's C; 5 K's H). One of each is placed face up forward of table, while their duplicates are placed behind them. Those cards are freely shown, then counted face down onto the table to verify their number. The positions of the face up cards on the table are reversed. When packets behind them are turned face up, it is found their positions have changed as well. Cards in packets are shown/counted once again, then handed out for examination and verfication of total number of cards in play. I like this particular packet effect due to its impact on an audience, coupled with its ease of handling. Good chance many of you may not be familiar with this item, but is well worth researching. Start with Jon Tremaine. |

"HOTEL MYSTERY" is another impromptu effect. It has a good patter.
Robin Robertson has a variation of "HOTEL MYSTERY" effect. |

Shameless plug but I have a new, EXAMINABLE packet effect out called "Out Of Order". It's a three phase Wild Card routine and at the end all of the cards may be examined. It's a little wacky but it plays great for lay people. Available at most online retailers or through Full52.com or through me.

Ok,
my favorite one has changed to Aldo's Shenanigan! Why? Great for kids (viual)and adults with a pretty humorous story line that will make sence to both (even if the kids do not get some of the jokes) with IMHO, a great kicker! A ton of magic ranging from color changes and transpositions |

At my company's X-mas Party in NYC last night, I did Jon Allen's "Double Back" and Gary Freed's "NFW" all night long and the effects floored people. I literally did these tricks for hundreds of folks throughout a giant ballroom at the Grand Hyatt and people were just blown away. These are incredible effects, not hard to do, easy to carry and just simply amazing. Add in a few of my coin effects and you're flying. I had a great time and people chased me around all night.

Mb 217,
Did you have the cards change in their hand when doing DB? JB |

Yes JS, did it that way most of the night. It kills!
PS- And I apologize here as I must've gotten up a bit too early this morning and was obviously anxious to tell someone of my experience... And I see now that I didn't exactly catch the gist of the topic here. Seems I'm saying this in the wrong place. Please pardon me about that.

I have great success with Colour Monte... So much so I even made myself a jumbo version for parlour shows... My number two is Vernon's Twisting the aces.. I do this as packet.. Pulling the aces out of card wallet...
I do the ending just a bit different in that after I go through the part showing twisting does not turn over the Ace of spades... I hand the packet to a lady and say the only way to turn the Ace is to have a lady hold the cards and snap my fingers over them... Then I let her spread them... Punches it up a lot because it turns over in her hand... This ending brought it from a puzzler to a wow effect... for me...
Farley Carter...
We do not do Magic... We create illusions, confusions, do sleight of hand, tricks and sometimes downright cheat... But sometimes if we do all this well people see Magic.. |

When it comes to examinable packet routines, Aldo Colombini's version of the 10 Card Poker Deal, Tested Ten-Card Poker Deal, is hard to beat. I started using it last weekend and it was quite powerful! I like the variety in the routine as it seems that you're trying to give the spectator every advantage, yet they can't win. It has a nice finale, too. The routine is available on DVD, as well as in written form with jumbo cards included.

Although they can't be examined and really don't need to be, I like B'Wave and Mirror Reverse. MR really works well if you do an Ascanio Spread. |

Glen,
Very nice performance indeed. I wish there were more excellent performances like this posted (with patter) rather than so many ill executed/thought out ones. Why do so many people use music rather than decent patter? Are they afraid to speak on camera? LOL I'm not against using music at all, it just seems silly when they put music to an effect that typically would need some type of patter (the really bad ones are the ones with music AND then they have the words running across the screen trying to explain what we are seeing)! Sorry, I'll get off the soapbox now. LOL Again, great performance with the pasteboards! Cheers, Wes |

Agreed Wes, many need words to give some kind of motivation and build up.
Meir Yedid used to use this a lot. Good trick. Paul. |

Although It has been said many times, John Bannons Royal Scam is excellent. My only whine is he uses the Hammon count alot, and I look awkward doing it. I guess its true they say Practice makes perfect.
