Polling the community for your favorite outs when someone asks "let me see that deck" and it is a stacked deck, gaffed deck, or otherwise unexaminable.
We all know the "just switch it out" reply... looking to see more creative outs...

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
I don't start out with a stack or with a gaffed deck. I perform a few effects that create the desire to examine the deck (example: the Haunted Pack), and because the deck is not gimmicked, it can be examined. I do some other stuff where audience members handle the cards, shuffle the cards, etc. By the time I'm ready to ring in the gaff or switch for a stacked deck, the audience has convinced itself that the deck is perfectly ordinary. That's when the fun begins.

How's this for creative? Point behind them and say, "Isn't that Megan Fox?" When they turn to look... Run!

I prepare for it in advance. As soon as I'm done my effect with the funky deck, I keep talking as I put it away. In that same place, I keep an identical, legitimate pack. So when the inevitable "Hey lemme see that" comes, I just non-chalantly say, "sure, here ya go." and toss them the regular deck. Then ask them to show me an effect! I promise 9/10 times, they'll hand the deck back right away!

I agree for the most part with Barry. However, I've introduced a gaffed deck 'cold' and nobody is the wiser. I think it has a lot to do with how you handle it. You have to handle it like a normal deck with no 'tells' conscious or otherwise. If you are consistently being 'caught' I would suggest you're probably not handling it as well as you could. Of course, if people already know or suspect you are the type of person that uses trick decks or if the deck does something that obviously would take years and years of experience and you're only 12, you're sunk regardless.

Call me crazy, but I give it to them. Everything I use is ungaffed or stacked. If the selected card is on top or bottom I palm it and give it to them, then stick it to my head. For effect, if someone reaches for the deck, I often lightly slap their hand. Like mom catching a kid in the cookie jar.

In your pocket, have a deck with the words THAT written on it.
"So... you want to see THAT deck..... " I do have to agree with posts above about starting with normal cards then switching in the deck you want, but your POSTS was looking for outs! |

I believe Barry Fernelius' solution is absolutely the correct approach with any gimmicked setup: cards, coins, dice...
Amazing with straight props, then kill with the gimmick.

Yet again I find myself agreeing with Pepka, the wisest performer is the one that plans accordingly. If you have any inkling that your going to be performing for a group that tends to be grabby or is super inquisitive, than why even bother with performing any gaffed effects? There's definitely more than enough material in all of our repertoires to make up for it. Especially if you don't have the confidence in effectively managing these types of questions.

If it's an adult and you're not worried about putting them in their place...
Q: "Let me see that deck!" A: "What are you... 9 years old?" I don't use stacked/gaffed decks but if I did, I'd be prepared ahead of time for sure. A combo of the answers above are great. What more could you need.

Ok, I'll tip this. I've used it since around 1982, and never once did it not get laughs.
Spectator: Let me see the deck. Me: (dead silence and mouth gaped open in shock). Wait...timing is everything. "Oh, Deck. D.E.C.K.". I've had people have their drinks come out their noses. Everyone laughs and...the request of seeing the deck passes. Everyone once in a blue moon they say, "Can I see your deck".

Very good Chris. In very few situations where it's all adults, and everyone is drinking and carrying on I've done something similar. I shrug and hand the deck to someone else. "Here, hold this a second." I actually reach down and start to unzip. "You might want to stand back." Someone laughs and I look up and say, hey, that's not very nice." I mime zipping up as I say, if you're gonna laugh, forget it, I'll just do another card trick." And take the deck back and go on.
