Hello there,I'm a girl magician from Italy but I have never done great illusions.
In a year time my father's company is having a huge convention and I'll be performing. I want to have my father and other guests magically appear on stage so I'm looking for illusions to do that. The thing is, my father is fat, another guest is very tall and so on, so I can't use illusions that would only fit a skinny lady, you know what I mean? Can you help me out please? I know the show is in a year time but I must start thinking about that now, since it's a great oportunity for me and I need time to buy the props, reharsal ... thanks guys Gaia |

You are right think now... tip trunks
I would have the curtin open on one tip trunk center stage and the other two coming from the side wings. trunks are truned around then tiped forward (showing empty) and tiped up . tops opened and streamers shout out of the trunks top, shut and reopened and the men apear. EASY but effective Best James PM me |

Book of life illusion - Il Libro de la Vita e molto facile, non'e caro ...
Also in the DVD by Darwin Inexpensive illusions there is a cute illusion to transforme a member from the audience into another person, and there is absolutely no cost as well. Hope this helps, Soleil

Thanks. I'd like to consider all the options at the moment, the cheap as well as the expensive ones because money might not be an issue (within limits...).
what about gift surprise 2008? |

Mummy wrap, Tri screen,Brice screen, Arabian Tent... Check out Tarbell books for some inexpensive and seldom done illusions. What's old is new if done properly, and with a little imagination, you could have some nice productions for minimal expense.

What is the staging and performance conditions?
Angles, what type of stage, curtains, wings, etc? This information might help for those recommending. - Donald

Gaia,
Take a look at the following... The classic modern Cabinet or New Wave Modern Cabinet. The work basically the same way. Im not sure what you budget is? The following is a webstie for one of the best illusion builders I know personally. Not only can he help you, he's super nice to work with. the address is http://www.smokymtmagic.com Take a look at his work you will be impressed. Hope this helps. Andrew |

Something to think about...
A couple of the illusions mentioned (tip-over trunk, Arabian Tent) involve the person having to croutch down and/or move around on the floor on hands and knees. If they are important people at a convention, they may be in expensive suits or something. And their size may also be an issue. Look at Mark Wilson's book for the mummy wrapping and a couple other production ideas. Also, you may find his DVD's helpful. There are clips from his old tv shows that give you a good demostration of some of those methods. Use a simple method and put some creativity into it. You could do a transformation using Mummy Wrapping, then reproducing the first person by using "Who's There?"(in the Wilson book). Mike E |

I say if you have control over the settings, lighting, angles etc....
Use BA.... Then, size issues wouldn't matter as much.... Keep us posted with your progress yah...

A Flash Appearance is easy on the people you want to make appear.
They are standing comfortably behind a special something and all they have to do is step on a trigger at the appropriate time and they appear in a flash of fire or smoke. You can customised the frame to any theme that suits yr occasion and they are easy to troupe even after your big theatre event is over.

If you go with pyro you gotta worry about fire codes, just a thought.

The Flash Appearance can be done without the flash pot. Another way is to do it with a fogger. A small burst of fog is enough.
Tilford is also closing his business soon. |
