Incidentally, what's "heavy"? For me, any cup over, say, 6 oz. I would regard as heavy. Cups like the Van Dokkum jumbos, the Gary Animal cups are something else altogether......in the superheavyweight class.

I agree, Fortasse, anything over 6 oz I'd call heavy.

I like heavy stainless steel cups. When cups are too light a non-round large load may let it slide slightly aside on the table. An unpleasant feeling when it happens to you and a (different) feeling of embarrassment when it happens to other performers.
