I can understand a good magic trick does not exist. But what is the best way to describe that when a magician asks me about a good trick, or someone tells me I performed a good magic trick?

Beauty lies on the eye of the beholder. Same goes for magic.
There are times, a simple effect, technique or trick we overlook or pay no attention to - may look like a MIRACLE or REAL MAGIC to some audience. I would say it is hard to say which effect or trick is good. It may help if we write a journal of every trick performed - especially noting down the responses of the audiences and if possible note down why they like or dislike the trick (after talking to them). It may be a surprise to many that when I did a survey on which trick the audience like the best, the result is ... how did the water or milk disappear from the newspaper. This simple trick seem to be the favorite among the audiences over here. I don't even know why. Performing magic to the audience will always be interesting and challenging - you just don't know what they like - it could just be a simple vanish that look like a miracle to them. |
