Don, it's nice to know that Adams is thriving.
When I was a kid, I must have purchased every single Adams novelty that was available -- Joy Buzzers, Whoopee (fart) Cushions, Fly in the Ice Cube, Plate Lifters, DeLand decks, etc. My favorite was the Jiffy Coin Trick (Nest of Boxes), and in fact I still sell one today (the Miracle Coin Box from FunTime). Seth,
The miracle Coin Boxis a China ripoff from S.S.Adams.If you want S.S.Adams to thrive than why not buy the Jeffy Coin Box from them. That's one reason this country is in such bad shape, everything is being made in China and that where retailers are buying everything. But if you can buy it AMERICAN made than I think you should. Hey Don, normally I would agree with you, and in fact I do try to stay away from the Chinese and Indian stuff because the quality is so bad, even for slum and pitch items. The FunTime magic worms look like carpet scraps, the cards in the Chinese Svengali decks are too thin, aren't cut right and don't work properly, the metal in the Indian Cups & Balls is too thin and the balls aren't even round sometimes, and so forth.
But some of the imported stuff is pretty good, and sometimes, it's all that's available. For example, the Money Paddle from India is the only plastic money paddle I've been able to find (a wood one would be too expensive to pitch). I asked FUN, Inc. if it would consider making one, but Gabe said the cost of the molds would be prohibitive. And the Indian Buddha Papers from Robbins were 60% cheaper than the Royal ones, and were made of thicker paper to boot! Although I pitch the plastic Royal Cups & Balls, I own a set of Bazar DeMagia brass cups from Brazil, and think they are the best value and quality for the money in a set of good but inexpensive cups (now around $75 retail, I got them when they were $40, before brass got expensive). In deciding between the Miracle Coin Box and the Jiffy Coin Trick or the Adams' Magic Coin Box, it was not just a matter of price, in fact all three tricks ran about the same price. I went with the Miracle Box because I thought it was better looking, more durable (all plastic as opposed to the Adams paper outer box) and it also had a better gimmick. In my experience, the Adams gimmick for the Jiffy Coin Trick tends to jam because of the way it is constructed. So I do try to avoid the imported crap, but when it is competitive, better, or the only game in town, that's what I go with. SETH

The first place I tried pitching only had room enough for table and chair. No EZ UP or banners. To make matters worse, most of the tip didn't understand English. Still sold enough to catch "Pitch Fever." I have a new spot lined up with improved demographics. I assembled this joint based on Don's DVD and ideas posted on this site. Thanks to all. I hope to use for first time on 9/28....Will let you know how it goes... Rick

Funny you mention "Flash." I knew a Carny who worked the midway at the Sacramento State Fair in the 70's and then a traveling carnival in the 80's. He would always talk about how important the flash was. Hope he's right.

Rick, that is a beautiful-looking joint, it should really pull them in. I especially like the "curtained" backdrop, very neat.
AND I also see that the tent is nicely guyed down, that's so important. Good luck to you, and turn those tips! STH

Yes, all I could ever get on that link was Walgreen's log in page, even just after it was posted. Please update.
