Now this package from Jake had me as excited as a kid at their birthday...
It's a set of Paul Fox Cups made in silver with gold plate inside. Wow are they beautiful. Incredible feel and look as only Jake could produce. He knows the details if he'd like to respond. I'll add a couple of photobucket links if you're interested, although pictures (especially mine) don't do the cups any justice. http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee334......069a.jpg http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee334......065a.jpg Tom |

Beautiful cups you got there! I love my PF cups and wouldn't trade them away for anything!
BTW, what kind of balls are those?

Nice cups!
I'm also curious about the balls, they look great. High visibility. |

They are a solid ball I make. Years ago I took a few lessons from Frank Garcia and he told me he thought C&B looked much better with a solid ball over a crochet type of ball.

Are they rubbery, or smooth? Where did you learn how to make them?

They are smooth and bouncy. It took a while to find the right size and 3 times as long to find a paint that would work and be a little flexible, with no tackiness. They are a real pain to make..

Frank Garcia used to use rubber balls painted with red fingernail polish and a clear coat.

I think he also detailed that in his book on cups and balls.
Using straight rubber balls has certain inherent problems with the rubber sticking during some of the moves. The nail polish with clear coat or a flexible paint helps alot. Mobius |

Correct, I should have included that Mike. There is a new paint called Fusion paint for plastic. This paint works espeically well on nylon balls, but of course nylon balls are very dense and talk alot. I'm going to pick up some rubber balls and try the paint on them to see if the paint holds well and if there is any reaction to the rubber with with the paint.

There's a number of materials the balls can be made with, some do react and just stay tacky like they were just painted. I had found a great hobby paint put out
by Chevron, but it's no longer made and I'm out of it. Worked great in a small hobby airbrush. I'll have to look into that Fusion. |

Balls! I say.
Crocheted covers forever! Good enough for Vernon, good enough for me. They're relatively silent, super surface for retaining it in various secret places. Perhaps the old guy from Canada did know something about his craft? |

I have the "soccer balls" that Gazzo sold for awhile. The are visible from a mile away, but I find they adhere to the cups at the absolute worse moments, so I've had to put them away. Would this Fusion work on them? (I think they are some kind of rubber or nylon, perhaps)
Also, nice cups! |

From what I read it's not supposed to be tacky at all when dry. Also found Rustoleum has a Universal paint for all surfaces now. It's supposed to have a new kind of spray technology. BTW thanks for the comments on the cups, but it's Jake
that made them. |
