I have justed added Thayer's method for a one-handed color changing silk effect to my Mini-Mysteries series, with some of my "wizard-touched" ideas for extending this great idea to other silk effects. It was advertised by Thayer in the 1920s, but never seemed to catch on among silk magicians, and never even made it into the Rice Encyclopedia. Still, it's a pretty effect, bunching up and changing the color of a silk with one hand, and with my variations, you could go on and make it change to a third color without skipping a beat... or do a mismade flag... or a blendo... there are lost of possibilities.
Anyway, it's on my site now so it doesn't get lost for another generation: http://www.magicnook.com/MiniMysteries/MysteriesTOC01.htm Just scroll down to "Thayer's Pop Up Color Change Silk" if interested in something old and something new at the same time.
