Does anyone have problems with their ID not being rough enough. Mine slides way to easily thereby exposing the unwanted cards.
Where as my Mental Phot deck is great. |

It's the opposite for me! I have to force like superman to slide the cards..

If it slides easier than you have to hold more pressure on it. I personally like it with less fluid. I bought mine from Hamption Ridge and it is great. They spread really nice. I keep mine in new deck order so I don't have to do any math..

I'm math-challenged, so the suggestions in the Field's book about fanning the cards (to spot the "mate") work well for one of the routines I like. Just make sure get the correct side. Also, did you know that worker's like Don Alan used a different set-up than "new deck order?" (Hey wasn't that the name of a boy band?)

According to his autobiography, the earliest performance of this effect (Different Method) that I am aware of is John Scarnes invisible deck routine. His version uses a regular deck and some REALLY good sleight of hand. I don't know who actually made the first gaffed deck for this effect, but I'm assuming it was someone trying to come up with an easier version of John's effect. jlareau :bluebikes:

I bet that it's not easy to do it with a regular deck!

Dante King has the best ID's I have ever seen. The roughing spray he uses is of great quality. I am sure that anyone who owns his ID will attest to that. Get one from here if you don't own one already..

For those of you who love the invisible deck, you may want to check out Fantasma's Paranormal Deck. It comes presented in a nice book box design. As well as an invisible deck (packaged inside a metal embossed tin,) you get the special handkerchief to hold your REAL invisible deck. REAL invisble deck I hear you cry? Let me explain...
The magician shows a pocket handkerchief tied up into a bundle - with gathered ends. There appears to be deck of cards in the handkerchief due to the shape that is being formed. It is solid - you can tap it and feel that there is a deck inside the handkerchief. The magician states that inside is a special deck of cards and that you keep it inside the hanky because you don't want to lose it. Why would you lose it? All will become clear... literally. The string is removed from around the ends of the hanky. Slowly, grasping the deck through the material, the hanky is unrolled. The last edge of the hanky is unrolled to reveal the deck... but there is no deck! Ah but there is... it is an INVISBLE deck. The magician picks up the invisible deck and hands it to a spectator who is asked to think of a card and reverse it into the deck (go into the standard invisible deck routine... yada yada yada ). So the hanky is a way of introducing an invisible deck for the standard routine. Instead of just reaching into your pocket and bringing out an empty hand and say "Here is an invisble deck" - try the hanky. It is a specially gimmicked handkerchief. You can purchase it only from FAO Schwarz in New York at the moment (either in the store or online at their website). Yes I work for Fantasma Toys and yes I created the handkerchief but I wanted the magicians interested in the deck to be aware of the hanky too. Comes complete with an instruction booklet with contributions from some great magicians in the magic world. Details of 50 effects/handling tips/routines with an invisble deck written by Simon Lovell.

After reading these posts, I ran out and bought my first ID. I LOVE IT! This is a great trick and I would recommend to anyone who might be thinking about it. One good thing about it as mentioned to me by the dealer, you can keep it in a pocket as an emergency lifesaver... if you lose a card you need in another deck from another trick, and you do not want to ruin the trick, switch decks with the ID and you will get the card you want, just by different means than you originally wanted to.

Mike, it's a great idea! If you lose a card in a regular deck, just say: "Darn, I don't think that this trick will work".. You put the deck in your pocket, ask for the card .. and you know what will happen next!

I don't think it's a good idea to do ID more than 2 time's to the same spec , you will get guessed out.
Magic or just an illusion? it's a free choice .... isn't it?
