I really want this trick but I understand the quality can be variable to say the least. Can anyone recommend a version or supplier.

The two that spring to mind are "Run wolf Run" by Wolf's Magic (the Rolls Royce of RRR props), and "Turbo Bunny" by Kovari, which has the fastest moving rabbit that I know of - great for getting the kids going!

Look for a wooden one with good mechanics or a tin one that is robust. Some tin ones are cheap copies and quickly warp. There is even now a foamex one (platic) you could choose (see link below to find out more.) Some mechanisms stick so look at this link to solve that http://www.practical-magic.com/index.php......temid=32
The one's I've listed below are one's I've tried in the past year. In the US, for a wooden one try http://www.hocus-pocus.com (search rabbit) $95 Hank Lee sell one for $135 http://www.hanklee.org , but doesn't say what materials it's made from. (Might be worth a phone call or e-mail to find out. In the UK, for a good robust tin one go to http://www.houseofmagicuk.com I played with this one over the summer and its good quality. For a foamex one try http://www.practical-magic.com/index.php......temid=26 for £110. For a fun ghost one try http://www.derekrutt.com for $175 (out of stock at the moment, but good photos that help you learn about this trick.) Of course for a wolf try http://www.wolfmagic.com/Run_Wolf_Run.htm for $425 There are lots of varieties including dragons and bears. I've even thought about customising one myself so I have a unique act for my show.

The best (Run Rabbit Run) was the Harry Leath's version, sold by Harry Stanley.
All metal, very durable and very light.. Edwin of Supreme Magic bought the rights and was making them for many years. I own 2 versions ---Run Rabbit Run and The Spaceman, which is the same identical prop. TrickyRicky |

Spot on Ricky. For all the variations and 'improvements' that have been put out, the original Harry Leat still stands head and shoulders above the rest as a practical birthday party effect for children of all ages. It's compact, highly visible even in large venues and packs and travels with ease and minimum space. Simply travel it in a soft cloth prop bag to protect the finish or wrap in soft cloth. Prop bags are quickest.
Many of the variations do not have four doors, only the two front ones. The rear two are essential for a proper Pantomime routine. I've been using this effect for fifty years and now possess three. They always varied somewhat because they were made from scrap tinplate sheet. Printed over runs for biscuit tins and the like. If you look down inside the wall you can often see the old print. Sometimes the sheet tin varied and would be slightly thicker and the resultant prop a little heavier. Harry used what he could obtain and remember, this was immediately post war and in the UK in 1946 materials of any sort were scarce and rationed - even scrap. Later on a more reliable supply was available and the props tended to be slightly lighter and the metal thinner. All these Harry Leat originals will be secondhand so do check them out for working. Slide the rabbit across and check the ease of the mechanism. If it is stiff or scrapes apply a tiny bit of lubrication - one of the silicone sprays but only a tiny bit. You only need it on the rails within the wall. Try the end rabbit mechanism and see that it has not been bent and fouling the hollow door. It should carefully bend back. Ensure all four door hinges are working - they don't normally give any problems. And finally make certain you have the two full size rabbits. Be aware that the printing colours varied over different print runs. All four rabbits matched when the prop was originally made. If one has been lost you can't rely on another taken from a spare prop to match. The shade of brown varies considerably over the fifty odd years it was being produced.

I also was lucky enough to own another great prop called (Run Ghost Run).
This was also a Supreme make, same set up and routine as (Run Rabbit Run). I've been using all of the for over 30 years, and they still look new. Supreme forever. TrickyRicky |

TrickyRicky and Tony Have you had an opportunity to try the Run-Wolf-Run yet?
I think you would agree if you had that Wolf's RRR is far superior. Not saying that the Leath's isn't good but Chance has his mechanism down to just a small movement of the thumb. The story line makes sense and in my humble opinion its the Best I have ever used and seen. I think you might agree if you try it. Best to you! Brad

Hi Brad.
Chance Run Wolf Run is a great piece of work. At my age, I really don't want to carry large props around. Run Wolf Run is almost twice the size and weigh of my Run Rabbit Run and Ghost Hunt. Different strokes for different folks. TrickyRicky |

I would also recommend the Wolf's Magic Run Wolf Run. The design is very sturdy, the graphics are highly visual and appealing, the animation mechanisms are so smooth (it does side to side, peek around the corner and as well over the top) and it also has four doors.
Best of all I recently saw one on sale here at the Magic Café in the for sale section. If you deserve the best I would go with Run Wolf Run. You won't be disappointed. jeff |

The Harry Leat's versions in wood and tin are available at http://www.paul-howard-pro-magic.co.uk/ for £65 and £59.
There is also a run-dracula-run shown that is sadly out of stock.

I've seen both types used, but I"m sticking with my Turbo Bunny by Kovari. The large distance the rabbit travels and the ease of use is super. If you have a good story and keep the kids interest the Turbo Bunny rocks out. Please don't all start going on about needing to have a real busy and intricate paint job to get kids attention. No doubt it may help some magicians to feel good about their props, but I"ve found that the plain old Turbo Bunny really rocks without the need for great art work. For me the fun is in the "way" to use the prop and the patter that goes along with the story, and I'm not talking about a clown we've seen on youtube using the RWR. That is not the way to use this prop.

Have to second (or third or fourth, whatever) the love of the Wolf's Magic "Run, Wolf, Run". The ease of the mechanism and smooth action make it worthwhile. Also, since it is a little larger than the standard "birthday party" size, it works for a larger audience, as well. Just add a thin metal disc (about 2" in diameter) to the rear of the "reappearing" wolf and a belt magnet worn on the rear of your belt, and VOILA..no need for a pin for him to reappear on your back.

I used to have run Monster run that Hank Lee put out. The kids loved the cookie monster running back and forth and it really sold the effect for them sadly I sold it (I will never remember why) I would give a couple rupies to have it back today LOL.
