Can anyone tell me the best magic act to catch in Branson? My family is spending a couple days there and I'd like to take them to see a good show.

Also, is there a magic shop in town?
Thanks,
Rick

My family always enjoys Bart Rockett, but I think he's recuperating from an injury, so he might not be performing.

There are several folks on the Café who live in Branson and who can advise you.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

The only Magicians that are currently up and running are Kirby and Hamner/Barber.

Justin Flom has completed his season. Bart is injured and I'm not sure when he will be back. I took the year off to work on a new theater and won't open untill May of 09. I hope this helps.

There is actually a post about Bart here on the Café. Do a quick search and you'll read about his very unfortunate accident. Let's all let him know we're thinking of him and a speedy recovery.

Thank you all for your responses! We've seen Kirby before so this year we'll definately check out Hamner. And Taylor, we will catch your act next time.

I did a quick search on "Bart Rocket" and did not turn up any posts regarding his accident.

Just got back from our Branson trip. The Hamner/Barber show was wonderful. It's great to see an illusionist that handles manipulations so well (split fans and Misers Dream) and also does close-up. And Barber's comedy and vent act was the perfect compliment. My 11 year old said it was the best show he'd ever seen.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

That's always good to hear. I saw the Hamner/Barber show a few years back and it was awesome. They a have a solid show and are great people. If you're ever in the area don't miss their show .. you'll really enjoy it. I can't say enough good things about them.

Hi Rick, Glad to hear you had a great time in Branson. It's a great place to see a lot of different kinds of shows. Did you find the magic store? There is one in the town of Branson, not on the strip where all of the theaters are. It's called It's Magic Jokes & Novilties. I think the address is 124 S 2nd street. The owner is Yak Williams. Stop in and meet him next time you are in Branson. Bring your business card and hopefully he'll add it to his collection that he has on one of the walls in the store.

I FULLY AGREE THE HAMNER BARBER SHOW IS GREAT. LOTS OF ORIGINAL ILLUSIONS REFRESHING TO SEE. DAVE HAMNER IS A VERY CREATIVE GUY AND EXTREMELY NICE TO BOOT.

Wanmagic, I couldn't agree more. Both Hamner and Barber came out after the show and spent time talking to us.

Vaughn Ver Steegt, we did get a chance to drop by that magic shop. The owner was very nice and spent a lot of time with us. We'll be sure to go there again next time we're in Branson.

I'm remodeling a Theater for my show to be in for the 2009 season...
I hope that these TV shows don't slow down the want to see Magic in Branson..
Only time will tell...

I think shows like the worlds greatest magic were good for magic and made the lay public want to go see shows... But I think that the MM specials would make people not want to ever see a magic show again... Because it makes magic look stupid.

Magic is a hard sell anyway other that families...

Anyhow come see my show in May if you are in Branson..

Since my family lives in between Branson, MO and Harrison, AR, I'm there one to two times every year. After reading this thread, I think that I should make it a point to catch some of the magic shows next time I'm there.
