Can anyone recommend this cabinet? Is it well made, does it perform well? How many silks can be loaded?

Thanks

Its a classic called the jap box, I have a friend who also does a dove production with his version of it.
Effective if fully routined.

Thanks, magicians...I thought as much. This particular model would be too small for a dove, though...?

I beg to differ with Magic Ian. That particular cabinet is called a "silk cabby."

There is a larger version that used to be made for use with a dove. I know because I have one, but now you can only find a used "Dove Cabby" in auctions if you are lucky.

Thanks, Spellbinder, that seems more like it compared to the one I was enquiring about.

I stand corrected. However, this is the box that does the combo effect.

I sit corrected, Magic Ian. That's something new to me, but are you sure it will hold a dove? It does not mention doves in the ad at all.

This guy Peter, said he designed it like the dove in balloon that has the load in the upper chamber. Perhaps it won't hold a dove, but Peter mentioned it. I would ask the source. In either case, it has the enhancement of a produced load. A little pricey, but beautifully made.

No way it will hold a dove. It has a very small load chamber. You'd be lucky to get (2) 24" silks in it.

I watched the video--thanks for the link. That Peter Austin box looks classy.

I don't have MC's silk cabby yet (it's on the list), but I have a few of Mikame Craft's other wood products, and they've all been good. I was extremely impressed with their Demonstration Table -- beautiful woodwork and nearly all the bells and whistles a magician could want.

I've heard mixed reviews of some other MC products here on the Café (nothing on the Silk Cabby, though), but all of my experiences have shown their products to be top quality.

Hope that helps a little,
Bill

I received this item yesterday and am very pleased with it. Beautifully finished, it works silently and smoothly. Very easy to handle. I like the compact size of it; it will fit the routine I bought it for perfectly.
