Well.......Let me set the record straight. I hand carve all ventriloquist figures from basswood with hand tools only. I do not use a duplicarver. I use a mallet and chisel to get the shape of the heads and smaller knives after that. All characters have a basic pattern which only shows the outer shape. Hand carved period.

Conrad - you had me going through this whole thread looking for some mention of a duplicarver. I finally found it on pages and posts that happened before I joined here.

Anyway, for some reason, Steve's post made me think of a question for you Conrad: Do you know how many figures you've sent out into the world?
Since you carve them all, and that's time consuming, it may not be as many as some have put out there, but you've been doing it for a long time, so I figure you must have a good number of them out there.

And, I gotta say, the mechanism on Louie is like butter. Can't TELL you how impressed I am.

Ooooo....butter?
How did you get butter on your figure?
You really should be more careful with your figures.

But I know on my Hartz, the controls are so smooth and easy, in addition to being a great classic looking figure.

Thanks Guys........and.......I don't know how many figures I have carved. I lost count long ago.
There are many of course. I should just count my old photos. I used to take a photo of each one. There have also been many novelties including heads in the box, talking canes, talking hand puppets and other oddities.
I do have some exciting new faces coming out in the fall.

You have far too many to pay any particular one any worthwhile attention, so I'm willing to take the personal sacrifice of taking one of your hands Smile

I tried that.....
But I got a better one this time;
I only have one Hartz and he's lonely, so I think Donald should send a couple of his to my house to play.
