I too did not want an argument, and try to avoid them. It has been about a month since the last one, lol.
I still stand by what I said, though.

Do I insult them? you bet I do.
Do I embarras them? I try my best. Do I loose future? NO way. These people wouldn't come back even if I would have begged them to stay instead of saying what I do. I do this for several reasions.First and most important its to let the parent know how they are treating their kid.Who knows maybe my very sarcastic way of telling them will sink in and next time the parent will let the kid watch whatever it happens to be. Sometime being nice just dosen't get it and you have to hit a bone to get the point across. The second reason is nobody eles thinking of pulling their kid out of the pitch won't do it. Once again let me say the parent not buying a deck dosen't bother me its not letting the kid watch and having some fun that does. Matt you are just mad at me for other reasons and jump on me now for anything you can.Like I said before, please grow up and move on.But I know you'll have to get the last word in like the PM you sent me last time...thats just how immature kids act. Later,Don |

It is not your job to get them to treat their kid better. You are there to pitch, so pitch. If they do not want to buy, they do not have to. If they want to leave, let them leave.
Yes, I am mad at you. I jumped on you now because I could not believe what I read. I hate pitchmen and this thread shows why. -Matt

Matt,
You HATE pitchmen? What are YOU? You've been pitching this whole thread. Zig Ziglar has a saying, "Nothing happens until somebody SELLS something." If you think about it, it was pitchmen who settled this country. SOMEONE sold the Pilgrims on coming here. Someone sold the colonies on independence. Someone sold the South on cessession. Obama SURE sold the majority of the U.S. on himself. America is known for the "Yankee peddler". Sure, some pitchmen are obnoxious (Heard Billy Mays recently?) But when you think about it, your dad sold your mom on SOMETHING. So--HATE pitchmen? I think you might wanna re-phrase that. Jon |

I took ovr the magic shop at Wizardz at Universal City Walk in Hollywood about 5 or 6 years ago. I raised the demo area, put in a mike and lights, kept all the tricks but spent the whole time pitching Svengali decks. We got in these VHS Svengali videos that we listed at $12.95 but cost was a few bucks. No one could move them. I got them to order several gross of 101 EZ magic give away books, then marked the tapes up to $19.95, the decks to $9.95 and made a combo deal for $24.95 and threw in the book to close. Moved them for the next year with 3 to 4 pitches per hour depending on traffic.
