I'm just curious if anyone knows who makes this model?

Also I just wanted to see how long a new chair suspension question comes up and Kyle answers. =)

Hi Mike...Kyle does seem to know a lot about this illusion.

You might also check locally Bob K carries one manufactured by a well known source.

Darn it took me nearly an hour to find this. I must be slowing down in my old age. lol

It is hard to tell from the actual photo link but it looks to be either a Sommers model or a Mak Magic model chair suspension. Sommers and Mak are fairly close and both work very well. The difference is in the chairs themselves. One uses more of a plastic based chair and top while the other uses a more Metal style chair top and seat. Not sure this helps much but it looks to be either one of these or something fairly close to it.

The 2 best models for use with kids would certainly be the Sommers or Mak models. Go with Bill Smith if you are using an adult.

Don't tell me my old wooden ones are old fashioned! (George Washington sat there. His false teeth were carved from the same tree! I got them from Kyle. LOL)

The wooden one will work in sand! That can matter.

Kyle,

See what happens when they leave me unattended even a moment? We need better supervision in this nursing home!

When will magic shops give senior citizen discounts?

Back to the topic, without recommending a brand, I do recommend the effect. It is one that you will actually use up. The applications are endless.

Bob: I will have to make sure the guys in the white jackets come to your room and pay you a nice visit in your padded room lol

Matt: I did not get a chance to see it as it looks like the bidding ended on it. If it was a standard style model then the price is not bad at all as they usually run around 450 dollars US.

I hope it's a Jim Sommers version. That sucker can hold up to 200 lbs... but only use 140 lbs at most.

Kyle do you think it is a Sommers suspension?

I could not really tell from the photo on the klamm site.

Does the sommers one have any markings on it or anything that could let me know?

Matthew:

That prop was made by Jim Sommers. It's a great suspension, and you got a super price. But I still woouldn't "float" anyone over 100 pounds. You'll learn by experience, but after you exceed 100 lbs or so the feet really sink when you let them go.

I also believe it probably is a Sommer's model. That is the stylei own myself and works very well. Jim is right in that it can hold over 100lbs but I would not go anywhere close to 100lbs. It just will work better for you and keep the longevity of the illusion in tack. You did indeed get a good price on this. You will just want to check some things when you get it.

When you do get it, let me know and I can walk you through some things in regards to check list, proper initial set up etc. My pleasure.
