I know the difference between the two and although they essentially acomplish the same thing, I have never given much thought to why or when to choose one over the other.
Any one care to share their thoughts?

Yes it depends on the trick. Pulls are more silent than some reels. I use a lot of both but I like pulls for close up and in the day of magic shops and thumb tips a pull will even fry a magician..Cordially,Howard

An advantage of reels is that things don't have to come back to your body. Therefore, you can do things with untying knots etc. Pulls are essentially for vanishes only.
