A friend of mine just received Tim Wisseman's Dead Ringer, http://www.hocus-pocus.com/magicshop/?hn=1. I had the chance to play with it last night and it is unreal, one of the best looking props I have seen. I just wanted to take it home. It is a true work of art. For you spookies out there, this is a must have!

I agree Tim does beautiful work, but what is it you like about this prop?

I like the effect and the fact that it is VERY spooky. The bell, the stand and the box that it comes in look very old and worn. You can perform this with your hands empty and in full view. It is a very clean effect.

Wayne, how loud is the ring? Enough to be heard over a small distance, with some ambient noise? Or more suited for quiet, table/close-up? Thanks for sharing about this.

Ha Ha, yep it is Roger's. I am jealous! Not loud but you can see it moving from a distance too. It is loud enough to be heard across a regular room with ambient noise.

Thanks Roger and Wayne,as long as it is not a faint little ting I think it will be what I want. Gen. a bell-type ring pitch carries well. I love the look of the spirit telegraph, but I have been told that the click is faint. I had considered embellishing with a period phonograph megaphone to get a louder sound, would have made quite a dramatic look. But the little bell wins.
And Roger-sure, from time-to-time I enjoy a good heart--heck, we all do--but it is much more fun to wressle one away from someone else. |
