Is Optical Ropes worth the price and the amount of time it takes to learn it.

Part of my Dances with ropes (the non-m****tic) segment does exactly the same as some of the description of optical ropes.
In my estimation, it is all a derivation of existing routines based on the work of Sands with Sandsational rope, and The Panama rope routine with elements of "full circle". There is a review on magic talk: http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ntopic1084.php As far as the price, Penguin and magical pro magic has it for $16.80, elmwood for $15. There is a gimmick involved, so it is not pure. I find the ads misleading when saying there is just 3 ropes. The demo has lots of "jump cuts" in it, so I don't know how smooth the transitions are. The total time to do the effect seems short. http://video.aol.com/video-detail/optica......76764387 As amusing as it is to show extra rope ends hanging down and then restoring the ropes, there is a lot to be desired to hide the palms so much. I personally prefer to be more open in my rope work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQ8JJvmZ1TI --------- Back to the Optical Ropes: you have elements of other effects on the market. The 3-2-1 rope effect, Sams ropes by Sam Dalal, and others which sell for $3-$5 without DVD's. On the high end, but really a great effect is the Tabary Rope routine.
