Martin Breese put out a CD/book by Percy Press called A Traveller's Tale. Mr. Press is described as the 'last of the Brittish conjurors'.
Does anyone know anything about this book? |

Don't know the book, but he was one of the GREATEST street magicians and Punch Workers in the UK.
Charles Reynolds loaned me a tape recorder whilst in London, and I sat down with Percy and taped hours of conversation with him. You guessed it the tape was corrupted and wound up blank. I believe he was either the creator of or the master of the "Gypsy Switch" using this to close his street shows. As I recall, instead of "The Hat" the olde UK street workers called it "Bottling" as they used a bottle for folks to drop their shillins and pence into... that way no nasty berk could take instead of give as the hand went into the hat.

How do you know all this stuff?! I wanna sit down with you with an uncorrupted tape recorder sometime. Jim

I have the "Traveller's Tale" audio cassette. Definately sounds like one of those old guys who did everything at least once. Interesting to listen to, but not really a "teaching" tape.
Though it did come with printed instructions for a glass production. -Ryan Pilling
