I'm pretty good friends with Joe, the guy who fills the vending machines at work. So today, just for a laugh I asked him a question, although I allready knew the answer before I asked.
So I said "Joe, remember when the gas prices started going up, how they raised the prices of everything in the machines because they just could not afford high gas costs?" "Yeah" "well, now that gas prices are DROPPING, do you think they will LOWER the prices again?" "Well, you'll have to ask corporate that question, because I don't know." Sure he knew. He was lying. He's not stupid, and neither am I. Bend over and break out the Vaseline, folks. But it was fun to pull his chain for a while.

Remember when they started hiking up gas prices, and they'd always have an excuse? After a while they stopped giving reasons. Although their profit reports were self explanatory.
The worse the friends of big oil do in the political polls, the lower the prices will go. After the elections they'll go up again.

Only a fool drops prices for no reason.
As long as there is no reason to drop prices, they won't. If we drop by their home, we might offer them a good reason. I would start with the guy who works at McDonald's.

But their is a reason. It's simple. if they keep raising prices in the vending machines at work, the time will come when we will all bring our own bag lunch from home. Consequently, they will lose more and more sales, forcing them to raise prices even further to make up for lost sales. Of course, the more they jack up sales, the less inclined we will be to ever put money in their machines. So they, by their greed, have effectively cut their own throats.
Now wouldn't it be better to have many sales at lower prices than no sales at higher prices? So their is a good reason.

I asked the exact question Doug in "Tricky Business". Since you are using the idiotic idea of raising gas prices to raise prices, will we see a coresponding drop in prices when you have to pay less?

The fact of the matter (Fact, provable, and plugging your ears and saying "it ain't so" won't change it) is that suppliers, let's use Busch for example, raise their prices for items (.30 per case in my area) to make up for the higher gas prices. Now that the prices are going down, their .30 is not. Pepsi, Coke, many shipping companies have done the same. Is that easier to understand?

Ever think to go back and see what gas prices were the last time oil prices are where they are now, and you think you are paying less for gas???

But now the oil companies have to pay more accountants.

That tends to happen when terribly structured sentences are read by an idiot.

I can go with the terribly structured sentences. Even throw in poorly spelled.
But the read by an idiot part I will not back you up on.

Unless you are willfully blind gas & oil prices have been dropping. Recently, I've seen gas as low as $2.97 per gallon. We could pay the Euro average of $8.00 per gallon. Just like if you don't think your tax burden is high enough, one could volunteer to pay more come April 15th ... yeah, that'll happen. Speaking of vaseline, wait until politicians push for a carbon tire print tax.
