Anybody know of a way to get/design a professional looking site for let's say, less than $100/year. I am learning to use HTML, but I only can do the basics and cannot make it look even a little bit professional.
Any suggestions? Evan |

1magicshop,
Does that include the design of the site, or is it only hosting??

I would like to know the same... does it include design? If it does... is a good and professional design?

Stay away from "free" hosting with any popups.
- If you look around you can get free webspace when you register domain names. |

I can maybe design a nice site for you. PM me or email me at jrufl@yahoo.com. The only site that I have up now it http://www.buildyourgolfgame.com. I had some problems with the personel for my other site and they don't use mine any more. I also have a quick site I put together at http://www.geocities.com/jr_illusion. I am working on redesigning that and getting it hosted.

People always go for the free sites. Don't bother. $10 a month is nothing for a professional site. My advice would be to hire someone here on the Café. There are plenty of awesome web designers around here.

If you want a very inexpensive site that looks professional, a lot of hosting firms have a number of templates you can choose from to use for your site. These give you colour schemes, menus, buttons, etc. all created by a designer and included with your hosting fee. The only problem with this option is you lose the flexibility that goes with a site designed especially for your purposes. But this may be your best option since $100 will only get you an hour or maybe two of most professionals' time, nowhere near enough to get a site together.

Who needs HTML? The main thing is to get a proper Webhosting Company like VERIO or similar and a proper DOMAIN NAME that is exclusively yours, as opposed to some "tin-pot" members space given by AOL, Virgin, Freeserve, Wanadoo etc.
This will look professional in your ads. and is yours, and NO popups that people hate! Building a site? Have a look at the SERIF WEBPLUS range of products. Just install the programme on your computer. The rest is kids play. It casts HTML into the back room with the computer boffins, - where it belongs! When your site is up and running let us all have a look at it. It all seems so complicated at first Evan, but then after a few days the "mists" lift and it really is kids play. Our site brings us quite spectacular results as kids entertainers - as people see us, the puppets, the areas we work, what we offer, - and what we charge! Best Wishes - Tony. |

Well I used front page on mine. I did it in about three days and it looks like it. It could use a lot of work but have decided to hold off on trying to fix it up. I use the magiccafe for hosting. I think it cost five bucks a month.
