Anyone have this?
Method Impossible: Pages 44 - Saddle Stitched by Jason Messina Impossibilities made possible, ideas made real. The mindset of someone who creates magic is a unique one. It certainly has uses that extend for beyond magic. Ideas float through our heads all day long. You can create original, beautiful and complete impossible magic. This little manuscript was built out of that. The notion that you could do anything. That no method was out of the question and no effect couldn't be accomplished. People began to talk a lot about what came next. The impossible is hard to believe, especially when it's true. The ideas, routines and methods are meant to collide with your thoughts - head on. The intent is to cause some friction with your own ideas, stretch them out a little. The friction is meant to create sparks of new thoughts, new ideas, new ways of seeing the world, to push you over the edge and off the cliff. Once there, it's up to you to explore. All you have to do is look around - Method Impossible. Contents: The Accidental Coin Vanish The First Interlude The New Mental Midget The Second Interlude Split Tunnel Vision The Third Interlude When There's a Will, There's a Way The Fourth Interlude The Penultimate Interlude The Kidnapped Princess The Final Interlude An Interlude from the Interlude (or Where ideas really come from) The World's First Impromptu Anywhere, Anytime Plane Vanish

Does anyone have this? looks interesting.
On jasons page is also says "Also included is the groundbreaking principle, The Close Up Camera Trick and it's use in standard magic as well as the closely guarded application to PK Touches" Sounds very interesting. |

Hello everyone,
Thank you for the interest in Method Impossible. It is by far my most "progressive" little booklet to date. As such, this will not be for everyone. If you're looking for tricks to add to your repertoire tomorrow or easy plug and play routines then this certainly is NOT for you. If you like to think about magic, if you like to explore ideas, if you want my take on how the creative process works then you'll love this. Like Wi and TUBE, the important thing is and has always been, the ideas. So what I've presented here are a collection of ideas to spark further thought and consideration. This is not a book for the lazy magician or passive thinker. To not disappoint the ones who do like new routines and the like, I have tipped my hand on The Accidental Coin Vanish (the only coin trick I do) and the simple little nuances that make it soo strong and bring it out of the realm of finger flicking. The psychology is the thing here. I've gotten everything from jobs to dates from this simple juxtaposition of basic coin magic. Throughout the book is my plight to figure out how to accomplish an impossible illusion and the results of that. I've also introduced my friend Horatio Jones, who some of you know. Thankfully, this is not the last you'll be hearing from him. He has much wisdom to share with us and has agreed to put some of his thoughts down in the near future. From Method Impossible, you'll see that he is quite the character. Then there is my secret little pet handling of PK Touches. Several mentalists begged me to not put this in as they wanted to keep it to themselves. It has led to repeat bookings and viral publicity for those I've previously shared it with. It can be applied to most magic you do and I could write a whole book on the subject. Here I've given you all you need to run with it and start using it. You will need Banachek's original routine if you want to use it with PK Touches. At $10 it's a steal and we carry it on the site. There are essays on ideas, where they come from, tips on how to generate your own and some really off the wall handlings and routines that border on performance art. The Mental Midget was originally published in the first issue of Magician Magazine and has been revamped and improved for Method Impossible. I took a Paul Harris Conversation from the Edge and pulled it back just slightly onto stable ground. It still teeters but the routine is a ton of fun to perform. It's called Split Tunnel Vision. Oh, and then there's the Kidnapped Princess, a piece that takes the Princess trick and uses people instead of cards and smashes it into a presentation using a kidnapping for a truly strange performance piece. The idea can also be used with other non-human things. On my site you can listen to me read the introduction on the Method Impossible product page and on the blog. A way to dip your feet before diving in. Hope this helps! Best, Jason Messina The Astonishment Project |

Sounds really really interesting.
If you already do pk touches, does your handling add something new? Or is it just your handling of Banacheks pk touches? |

Hi Fridoliina,
This is hard to explain, about the PK touches, but you'd likely do it the same way you've always done it (I don't go into presentation) but the context would be different and you're able to create a very powerful false memory as well as a nice little viral moment. I never thought I'd be saying this, but the idea grew out of some things Criss Angel was/is doing. And I thought to myself, how could I do the same thing.......? Hope this helps and if you have any other questions let me know! Here's a link to the audio of the introduction, it's at the bottom of the page: http://www.theastonishmentproject.com/sh......l9l7ohl5 Best, Jason |

Once again, I really enjoyed Jason’s style of writing.
As far as the content goes, my favs were: The Accidental Coin Vanish turns a classic coin vanish (I believe I first saw it in Bobo) on it’s heels with a very clever additional & more than easy idea. New Mental Midget is a way to predict basically ANYTHING a person is thinking of, but I think it is best (& easiest) applied in conjunction with YouTube as a video prediction. Kidnapped Princess is right up my demented way of thinking. It sort of has elements of his FUTURE FORCES incorporated in it. But I think the best idea/suggestion is the Close-Up Camera Trick Principle. This idea can take a mentalism effect from ‘great’ to ‘you-should-start-your-own-religion’ status in the eyes of the spectators. I’m not saying that I will be performing all of the stuff in the ebook but I easily got my 5 bucks worth, just for the creative aspects of it. Mark |

Thanks Marqus, appreciate the review and kind words.
I've probably performed the Accidental Coin Vanish more than any other effect. If you give it the respect and attention the process deserves, you have a beautiful little mystery you can do anywhere, at any time. The Mental Little Person is a perfect trick for performing over Skype or Facetime. And, yes, I agree, the Close-Up Camera Trick Principle is something that steals a useful principle from TV magic and can be used to make a lot of effects more powerful and viral. Any questions, let me know. Method Impossible is probably the most popular book I've written. Jason PS: There is a big deal going on right now for all 8 of my books for $25. You can buy it from most dealers or through my site for instant download. |

I read the booklet and didn't care for it. It reads like someone just started writing a stream of thoughts. There was little substance. The coin trick was terrible. It's like taking a former coin trick and adding "then ditch the coin into your pocket" at the end and calling that an original trick.
Even though it doesn't cost much, I would pass. KJ |

Because of this thread I have re-read parts of the book
It's excellent If there were 9 others magicians like J Messina the entire magic scene would be different If you want an idea of the book, it's like reading the continuation from "Conversations from the Edge" from AoA
