Notice the recurring abs of steel. |

Sorry, guys... I don't get it.
Every painting and sculpture of the Crucifixion I've seen, shows Jesus thin and emaciated. His abs are sometimes pretty defined but not in a Bruce Lee "ripped" way. More of a "half-starved and suspended 15 feet in the air" way. Is this a denominational thing? Most of the churches I've attended have been Protestant (Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist, etc). Maybe it's from the movies? |

I think the part I care for the least is the recurring grin on his face. I think John Holmes with his Christ on the Cross balloon had the most accurate depiction if that's what we're looking for. I can't find a good pic on the net.

For what it's worth on the emaciated Jesus. Considering he was a Carpenter in the days before lumber mills I would think He would have had to be strong Considering if He needed a beam it meant felling it and dressing it by hand. To say nothing of the fact that He endured a ROMAN beating. The whole 40 stripes save one didn't apply to the Romans. That was Jewish law.
Any way, just the ramblings of an old Bible Student. Carry on..... |

My question is when it finally deflates will it reinflate itself?
