Thanks but I am trying to locate the original published source, that is, where it was originally published by Richard Himber.
Any help is appreciated.

The first place I ever saw this was in a Close-up Folio by Harvey Rosenthal in the Pallbearer's Review ( 1976 ). Harvey was given permission by Richard Himber to publish the move back in the '50's. So, it's possible the the 1976 Folio was the first publication.

Great! Thank you.
I had managed to find the Harvey Rosenthal connection but did not have the date nor publication so thanks again. Greg

I spoke to Bobby Bernard at a convention and he told me that the Himber vanish as most people perform it was actually his variation on it. He showed me the version Richard Himber showed to him which was good but not terribly natural, Bobby then showed me how he had changed the move and promptly vanished several coins at once using the himber. Bobby said he didn't feel he'd changed the move significantly enough to call it his own.......may be worth contacting Bobby through the IBM, else international magic in London may know how to track him down.

What a great story about integrity. I love it when people can give to magic and not demand that we rename the classics, instead crediting the originator.

It probably was. Back in the '70's, he showed me the Himber vanish and also the techniques for a click pass to steal one coin or both.

What an awesomely deceptive move. The addition of the click sound is hard to achieve, I find it easier to get across with full sized dollar. It is hard for me to retain control of the half dollars

It's hard at the beginning but with practise eventually you'll get the mechanics for half dollars. After a few years I've been doing it I can now perform it with silver dollars, half dollars, 1 coin click pass, 2 coins click pass and as a switch (having one FP on left hand) then himber vanish as a false transfer.
