Can anyone recommend a place to get any info/gaffs for Billiard Ball productions and vanishes? I am interested in learning about it but I have never seen any gaff, routines, or information about Billiard Balls on any sites I normally purchase books and effects from. Thanks in advance.

Buy Jeff McBride's World Class Manipulations videos. It contains info on balls, coins and thimbles so they are well worth the money. Most dealers stock this 3 volume set at about $29 a video.

Along with Jeff McBride's videos, you can look at Lewis Ganson's books on Manipulation.

Doesn't Shimada have some videos on advanced billiard ball handling?

Yes he does, you can find the video from Stevens Magic. On the video he covers cigarette and card manipulations also. Be prepared, his billiard ball manipulations are advanced.

I second Lewis Ganson's Routine Manipulation books. That was my start in magic.

I think... on the net is too much video demos with cards.... and practically no balls manipulation demos. I can find maybe 5 video demos with balls. Why? What is with ball manipulation on internet?
delpfin p.s. If somebody knows any www with ball manipulation videos please send me PM with address or place address on this topic. |

check out http://www.videodepot.com. There are a few vanishes and productions of billard balls there. You are right, these videos are real hard to find. Perhaps it's because not many people perform it.

OK. Video depot is one of greates pages with magic videos. But... look at this statistic:
tricks with cards : 235 coins: 52 balls: under 10... This shock me. When I talk with magicians about my plan to my etiude to National Federation Convenion I always hear : "...And you must show some great manipulations with balls"... or some like this. I think : on ball manipulation other magician at first look know where days you practice. And how hard... And ball manipulation it's most beautifully kind of magic. |

Yeah that's the problem. So few people post this beautiful kind of magic, perhaps it's because it is much harder to perfect than card sleights.

Indeed it is. I have all three of McBrides manipulation videos, and they are very good. Brett Daniels has a beautiful manipulation routine in which he has a long stemmed rose between his teeth during the performance. You can see a very small part of it in the montage video on his site at http://www.brettdaniels.com, but it does him no justice unless you see the routine live. |

Look up "The Magic Of Alan Wakeling" for a great 5 ball billiard ball routine!

I agree completely that there is not enough material available on billiards. In a way it's good because it's hard to find - hard for laypeople to access, but it's not good when it's hard for magicians to access!
