I tried the new game from Razamatazz Magic called 'Pass the Parcel" for the first time today at a Magic Party for 5 year olds and it was EXCELLENT! The children and parents loved the cartoony appeal of the parcel and the built-in music and remote control meant that I could make sure thet EVERY child was a WINNER! The kids thought the parcel was very cute and passed 'him' around very carefully so as not to drop 'him'.
By introducing this prop to the magic community, it allows us entertainers to play this much-requested game and satisfy the needs of parents and wishes of kids - with minimum hassle on our part! Just pop the prizes (I use wrapped sweets and lollies) into the compartment, turn on the music and let the fun begin!!! The service (as usual) from Andy amnd Sue was excellent! The delivery to Hong Kong took less than a week and everything was packed safely! If you want this great prop, better hurry as only a few are left - and the supply wont be replenished. The link to this product is: http://www.razamatazzmagic.com/Passtheparcelgame.php Here's a link to my youtube site where you can see the game in action yesterday. The video quality isn't the best as it was taken with my digital camera - but its real-world! The link is: http://www.youtube.com/user/bernardomagic |

Lou,
Thanks for your comments. The shipping was only an extra 16 GBP - which for airmail was very reasonable. So the total cost was 56 Great Britain Pounds. Get it as its really fun ... you can see from the video that the kids loved the game. It also has 3 extra games with symbol cards that can provide alternatives if needed. The music volume is a bit low, but you could use your MP3 music player and just use the remote function on the unit. |

By the way, the total time from ordering, to paying by Paypal to delivery was less than ONE WEEK from UK to Hong Kong - now THAT'S REAL MAGIC!!!

No offense to Razamataz magic, but these are available from some toy stores too.
40 pounds equates to $100 Australian, however they're available for $28.00 brand new from this toy store in Australia - http://www.toysandmore.com.au/item.cfm?i......ken=4329 Here's another, a bit dearer, but still about $60.00 cheaper than the UK one. If you shop around on Google for 'remote control pass the parcel' you'll pick one up at a 'reasonable' price. Cheers Billy |

But if you notice ...they are OUT OF STOCK! Also, Andy from Razamatazz has already clearly stated that the manufacturer is NOT producing anymore so they will become a rarity.
Therefore, if you want to get one right away and support one of the new guys on the block (in terms of being magic dealers) I would purchase the item from Razamatazz! |

Also if you google this product yes you will get many sites selling the product - THEY'RE ALL OUT OF STOCK!!! I gave up after the first eight showed the same result.
If you're interested, save the hassle and get it while it lasts from Razamatazz...only a few (5)left I understand. |

I also am, out of stock and have no more items to sell. Therefore, I am offering them at the riduculously low price of $10.00 each, postage paid. But that's only because they are all sold out. If I actually had any to sell, they would cost much more and postage would be extra. This is like riding past gas stations advertising gas at $1.25 per gallon only to discover that the gas station has been closed for years and never took down their signs. Hmmmmm.
Sorry. I couldn't resist taking a jab at the economy of greed we are experiencing, which has nothing to do with "Pass the Parcel." I used to play this game with a paper shopping bag and an old fashioned record player (the kind with black 78 rpm records and a needle). The game is just as much fun without the remote control. I enjoyed the part in the video where the kid started slapping the box to get inside and grab his lollipop and the entertainer struggled with the remote control unit openly to try to make it behave correctly. So if Razmatazz runs out, it's back to the cardboard boxes and shopping bags.

Why would you want to sarcastically imply that Razamatazz Magic is purposely fabricating that this porduct is becoming harder to find so as to raise the prices? Do you even know them or have purchased anything from them? Some entertainers like myself appreciate their attempts to introuduce new products to the kidshow market and are willing to pay the prices quoted for them - its a free economy at the end of the day. By the way, the video was put up to show fellow Café members what the game is like in real-life - the kid was only 4 and was anxious to get his prize. Also, it was the first time I used the unit and sometimes things do go wrong - I'm so glad you enjoy revelling in my perceived 'struggle' and failed to see how most of the kids knew what to do and had a good time. Perhaps all your KID audiences never get too enthusiastic at the prospect of winning prizes and you've never had a mishap occur onstage. If you observe, the slight delay didn't affect the flow of the game at all. Basically, it all boils down to budgets and personal choice. If you like to spend your time making your props out of everyday materials then go the D-I-Y route. As a professional chilkdren's entertainer here in Hong Kong, my experience is that my paying customers won't like it if I show up with 'cardboard boxes and paper shopping bags' to perform at their kid's party. |

I appreciate Magicbern's sharing, and just got on a famous auction site we cannot mention here. Their British affiliate has this on sale for about $10, although postage to US will cost you another $20. However, this is still much cheaper than the Razzmatazz price . . .

Is the appeal of pass the parcel the action of ripping the layers off? If you take this away will the children have as much fun?

Another way to play it is when the lid opens, the child with the parcel gets a candy in it and is out of the game. This is repeated until only 2 are left and the last child left is the winner.

Hi All
Just spotted this post and thought we should comment as is seems a little unfair. Firstly we came across the PASS THE PARCEL game after a fellow magician showed us his one. We borrowed his one and tried it in a couple of shows and it went down a storm !!! We asked him where he bought the item and how much. After tracking down the shop we found out that they had no stock and the item was discontinued. This was a big shame. So then we set about tracking down any remaining units in the UK only to find ALL suppliers were out of stock. A couple of weeks later the very same magician who had told us about the game had found a place that had a few left. It was a small number but at least the seller had some still in stock. Now here's the rub. They wanted double the original price. We thought about this for a while and decided that it was better to get the remaining stock rather than loose out all together so bought the few he had. The price we are selling has only added the normal mark up rate that sellers put on their items, no more. Now from certain posts if seems some indiviuals seem to be implying that we are profiteering from this particular item, but anyone that knows us or has been a customer of ours will tell you that we are very honest, hard working people who pride ourselves on our reputation. Our service is second to none and we offer highest quality products at the best price we can. We just thought other entertainers would enjoy usuing this product, and we were right. At no time has anyone ever complained about our tricks, products or services and quite the opposite we get magicians actually sending letters and emails congratulating us on what we are trying to do, which is to offer the best modern, 21st century props available. Now if some of you can find a product a little cheaper in another country then great for you ! We do not force people to buy from us. But if you do. You will get the best products and service we can offer. Cliff G - If you have managed to find some at a cheap price, then our answer to you is buy them all up (especially at that very cheap price) They will be extremely hard to get soon !!! Lastly, Magic Bern, thanks for your comments. You are obviously very happy with your purchase and after watching your video of the game can see that you had fun with the Pass the parcel and we can see that you are a very good entertainer to have children such young all enjoying themselves. This is the mark of a true pro. PS. Just sold 2 more, now only have 3 units of Pass the Parcel left. Guess some magicians still think its good value !!! |

I've played this game before with a balloon (as suggested by Mark Leveridge in his Magic Party book and DVD) and it seems just as fun. However, the balloon tended to fly away and get popped easily whereas this new prop is more solid. The kids also pass it around more carefully as it is quite cute and visually-appealing. I think the appealing factor to us busy entertainers is that we don't have to waste time wrapping each layer. Also in this era of environmental protection - it doesn't waste paper and is definately reusuable! |

However, one point to consider is... when children are out of the game, do they leave the circle? If so, we may have a logistical problem of keeping their interest in the game once they know they aren't in it anymore. Perhaps we can put counters or poker chips into the prize compartment. Then when the music stops, the child takes out ONE chip/counter. Then after several rounds, the child with the MOST counters will win the game/prize. In this way, theoretically all the kids are in with a chance to win until the very end and this will keep their interest! As you can see, many other games besides the basic pass the parcel game can be done with the same prop - just use your creativity! |

I was alerted to your new company through a post here at the Café and after purchasing Rabbit Rampage I really liked the up-to-date visual appeal of your products. So I bought Santa Surprise, Buckets of Fun and recently, Pass the Parcel. All of these have/will find a place in my kids show and as a performer for nearly 20 years, I only endorse what I know will be practical 'workers'! I was also a bit dismayed at some of the comments regarding the price - but this is to be expected in any field - especially due to the credit crunch. That is why internet auction sites and even the For Sale threads on the Café are so popular. I also have no grudge against people who try to seek the best price - if they are willing to take the time and effort to source something then good for them! I, for one, prefer to save time and buy from an honest, friendly and efficient dealer - like Razamatazz! I seem to remember a similar pro/con discussion regarding Bill Abbott's Chico the Chimp package. Some were aghast at the 'exorbitant' price tag placed on the package and opted to source all the individual items and build the package by themselves. Others, including me, just decided to save themselves the bother and buy the complete package from the creator himself. As I said in my earlier post - to each his own. Based on personal preference, available funds and concepts of opportunity cost there are many alternatives available. To recap, if you stay on the fence much longer, they WILL be unavailable and you will have to seek alternative sources. Good Luck! |

No one is anywhere insinuating that Razzmatazz is "profiteering." We are only stating that the item is available at a cheaper price. It's the free market and the beauty of the Café is that it allows us to convey information about this market, which keeps all of us honest. I do think Razzmatazz is overcharging (especially since I can get the item from their country for about 75 percent of the price they charge). However, that in no way denies that they are hard-working, decent people, or that they produce great items (they do; I have Santa Clause trick and it is beautiful - I have not used yet, but will hope to use soon). Razzmatazz can be wonderful people to deal with, who offer some wonderful tricks and even give good prices. They can also very well be overcharging on this particular trick and that would in no way be an insult; just a statement that it is avaialable cheaper elsewhere, whatever the fairness of their mark-up or conditions of their wholesale purchase. I appreciate Razzmatazz and am glad they are out there (and look forward, hopefully to buying more of their stuff). But I'm buying my RC Parcel Bag game elsewhere.
