Hello guys,
I am working on my stage show and PK touches routine by Banachek. I came up with an idea I thought was neat and hopefully you can use if you would like. If you do I would love to know how it works for you. I wanted a good ending to the routine so I was going to get Shock Treatment by Bobby Motta. Hold a lighter under spectator A's Seat and Spectator B stands up. This isn't the idea I wanted to share but this is what gave me the idea. You basically go to spectator A and have them hold their hand over some Ice. You go take a random audience memebr and have them shake spectator B's hand and their hand is now cold. Keep in mind to do this you will never (and I'm telling the truth) NEVER touch spectator B with your hands, icen or anything their hand will be cold. Here is how When you go see David Copperfield live before 13 he asks if you are in good health, If you have a heart condition raise your hand. Well this is the precursor to find the right spectator for spectator B \ You explain in the beginning of your show that your show involves audience participation and somne will be able to help some wont. For some effects you need people in good health. If you have a heart condition raise your hand, If you if you have migraines (or anything else you determine to add here it doesn't really matter) Id you have low blood pressure raise your hand (REMEMBER WHO RAISES THEIR HAND), If you basically have a fear of being on stage raise your hand, Fear of bugs raise your hand (Or something else kind of extreme the reason for these last 2 is to throw people off from the blood pressure, also if the last choice is extreme they will remember that and not as much the blood pressure cause iots lost in the shuffle. Do that at the BEGINNING of your show not right before PK touches do some effects to separate this "survey" from PK touches. Eventually when ready to do the routine do the touch routine complete it. Now before doing the lighter and the shock do the ice routin3e. During my PK touch routine I plan on having spectator B cover their ears so they cant hear what I am saying. after you azk them did you feel something and they say a tap (from the of the origianl PK touch routine by Banacheck instruct them to cover their ears. Now do as follows. Go select an audience member (get one from the back to give you extra time) come back up askl them their name have some banter waste a little time. Get a piece of DRY ICE and go to spectator A put the dry ice in a bowl of water and steam starts coming out. hold spectator A's hand and put it above the bowl of dry ice so their hand is in the "steam" The reason for this is so it is visual. Now instruct the spectator from the audience to go to spectator B and have spectator B shake hands with the spectator from the audience (the same hand that spectator A put over the "steam" Tell spectator B "His hand is colder now, isn't it?" don't ask how does his hand feel start off with the statement this will reinforce it in spectator B's head, the spectator you just chose, and the audiences head. 2 things happen hear He has high blood pressure so he is naturally cold. Second you ahd his hands covering his ears and above his heart so the circulation was not as good ether so it will be colder. Hope you guys like it let me know what you think
Thanks,

Great idea. Do people with low blood pressure always have poor circulation?

This is an interesting idea, have you tried it out?

You could probably do some subtle preshow work by going around the audience and shaking hands and introducing yourself. You'll that some people have poor circulation and have cold & clammy handshakes. Remember them and use them later.
Of course, there are also people that run hot so you might find a few that have a sizzling temperature so you could use a double whammy of sending temperatures back and forth. Greg

Nice idea. Have you actually tried this? One thing to bear in mind is that low blood pressure does not equate with poor circulation (unless it's low to the extent of passing out). People with HIGH blood pressure are more likely to have peripheral vascular disease and hence cold peripheries.
I favour Greg's method of actually 'testing' different people out. Of course, adrenaline causes peripheral vasoconstriction so a 'hot' volunteer preshow might have got significantly colder and clammier by the time they are anxiously walking up on stage... Merlin |

Merlin, you are right that some people could have a sudden change in their temperature. I guess the best way to use this is if you have a large routine that will involve six or more people. You have them on stage and shake their hands and judge who will work for the next routine.
It's probably not a surefire thing, but something to keep in the back of your mind if the time arises. greg

I can tell you think I have had low blood pressure and EVERYONE always says I feel cold. I have known people as well and their hands are. ALSO people on medecines such as colonidine (For people with high blood pressure, sleeping problems) it lowers it so they need lots of blankets at night. Its sort of like that feeling of how you get really cold when you break night and don't sleep at all and get very tired like that icy chill through your veins.
Havent tried it but will when I am ready to add it into my act. Idea poped into my head because it was FREEZING this morning and my hands just wouldn't warm up as I was driving.
Thanks,

Also there has to be a better way to psychologically impose it such as "His hand feels cold isn't that neat?" I just havent come up with something yet!
