I just thought I'd post this because so many expressed concern (thank you).
I just happen to have THE best Doctor in SanDiego. Former President of the associations (all of them!) and a very nice man. Not having insurance he cuts me a break...his other patients are all bazilionaires. So what's the bottom line? Not a clue. He said basically get used to it....nothing fatal or forboding. Blood Pressure normal, Cholesterol in good shape...X-Rays clear...not bad for 66 about to be 67 hot dog eating, smoker and non sleeper. I might drop and croak tomorrow but he doesn't see it in his crystal ball. So there is leg and foot pain and it may have connection to the back injuries over the years (not to mention foot injuries and achilles breaks.) Both the Doc and the Chiropractor (also the best in San Diego) say I'm too heavy. So there it is. Lose the weight 'and we'll see'. I hate doctors. I like ice cream. So for all my friends who were concerned...nothing dire...the legs just don't work and it's a struggle after about 25 feet of walking. Whatever...I deal with pain pretty good...pretty soon I'll just ride through it.

Higley's doctor....
Hm. Can't shake the image of a man in a grass skirt wearing a big, scary mask, bright body paint, shakin' some sorta rattle and jabbing the air with a very pointy spear. Glad you're okay, Sre Gepetto...and the others who have recently been under the weather here at the Café! |

Hey Doug, I think Leland is onto something. Maybe the Higley needs some of the juju and the mojo. ;-p
One tip I got from my coach is about how we build up uric acid in our joints and this can result in gouty arthritis. My coach who was all of 43 had it and could barely walk like you. He was directed to take Cherry Fruit Extract which is a natural de-acidifier. I tried it and it sure seems to tune up my joints when I am feeling stiff. This is the brand you want, best quality, decent price http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/br......=ET-1482 May be worth a shot and it's certainly not bad for you. And it has the mojo.

Uric acid build up is interesting to see is the skin is sliced to remove the grains, a bit like amber sand. Strangely enough, seemingly healthy sounding choices such as leafy greens can escalate the gout condition. Last hospital visit, I had gout in my big toes and one sprained ankle compliments of a clumbsy nurse.

Uh..it ain't gout or arthritis... Leland describes my Chiropractor...wait ALL Chiropractors...
When I'm feeling stiff...well...that's a bad thing? Been a long time since cherries cured that!

I'm glad it's not related to circulation/heart trouble.

Doug,
If you have a webcam and a phone line I can work with you on the weight end of your troubles. No charge of course , however there will be a small clause referring to your soul that you should ignore. Seriously ring me up. SB

I can sense that you are more at ease now with more knowledge. That is what taking care of yourself and putting yourself FIRST is all about. I have found I get much better and longer lasting results by playing rather than working on my health. I work to pay my bills but I play to keep myself well in body and mind.Thought Farmer.

Hoe-mee?
By the way, I never said I bought the Doctors 'line'...I paid for it but haven't necessarily 'bought it'...there ar a few paths he didn't investigate to reach his Pollyanna conclusions.

Never touch the stuff...nor admit house guests whether they do or not.
Both based on an extremely sensitive sense of smell. (as well as propriety.)

Thank you. Much appreciated.
However, I am 'purported' to be 'alright' based on shakey evidence. I'll run with that.

It looks to me like you went to the doctor to find out you were old.
Heck, any one of us could have told you that for free. Take care of yourself friend.
