A lot of times when I go to magic shops the workers take time to come to me because they a black man is not going to buy anything.

Mike, while you are in the shop, do they come and ask people that just walked in if they need help? Shops today are generally staffed by people that don't care who walks in as they have no desire to help anyone.
If they are helping people that came in after you, then your assumptions are most likely correct.
