Is this really a Daniel Summers original creation? He labeled it as a Copyright 2000 Daniel Summers Illusion Design. However, I just noticed Paul Osborne has this illusion listed under his Plan #170 "Split Decision" which he created in 1995.
You can see the illusion at this link below.. http://www.danielsummers.com/cuttingedge.html |

I haven't seen the Osborne plan, but knowing Dan and having worked with him (on this very illusion) I can assure you he is very ethical and does extensive background work. I don't know about this particular case, but this is the first time I hear this.

Same here... I thought I was familiar with just about all of the Osborne plans, including those that have been discontinued, but I've never seen this one.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

Just for the record, as you probably already know, Joe Riding put out an excellent card effect a number of years ago with the same name.

That is a copyright for the pictures. And the copyright at the bottom of the page. Is for the page itself.

That is what I am thinking as well. It may be a copyright for the photo images and such. That would be my guess.

I hold a few copyrights. No patents, though. I know just enough to be dangerous and not enough to be rich.
A copyright would, for the most part, be for something printed...like a picture or a visible design. Or a ...or sheet music. A patent would be for an invention...a machine or a magic trick. Something mechanical or manufactured. You could copyright the printed PLANS for the machine or magic trick, though. However, if you did that, you probably wouldn't put a copyright notice on the picture. So, yeah, I'm thinkin' the copyright thing is for the picture. |

I have sketches Dan composed of this effect dating back at least 13 years when I was building the Majestix illusions.

Paul, being s very close friend, doest not have a plan for this, however he has many, many ideas close to this. Wally Reid has somethig similar to this in his Stage magic book. The pieces do not separate, but still similar. I believe he called it the Karol illusion, and dear Doug used it on one of his specials. Those of you not familar with Wally, you should check him out. He has some great idea for illusions.. He designed a Disembodied (surrounded)for me, for my style and it was Great. He is also a great Guy!

This one is a real version built by Bill Smith and Invented by Daniel Summers.
This one on the video isn't a knock off, it's the real deal... Although they do a lot of effects that are not the real deal... Thanks, Taylor

Daniel made a beautiful modern design for this illusion but the illusion is not new. This picture about 30 years old.

I wish Senor Rai could post now because he would tell who is the magician on the picture. All I know the photo was made in Las Vegas in the middle or late 70s.
