You will find that there are quite a few zombie ball routines available commercially as well as a good number of videos on it available from most magic dealers.

If you will type Zombie Ball or Zombie Routine into the Café quick search box at the top left of your screen you will find a good number of previous discussion threads on the Zombie Ball and Zombie Routines, probably enough to keep you reading for hours.

Alex,

This topic has actually been done to death here...

There are tons and tons of suggestions on all versions of the Floating Ball effects here on the Café, take the time to search for them and read the threads carefully.

As new user you should note that the people who do the research first, then ask, are more respected over time on the Café.

'...The Zombie Ball! That takes me back. It was my finale when I was about fourteen-years-old and that was in nineteen-hundred and frozen-to-death. It is so old it could be new again and has always been a favourite.

Another good example of why exposure doesn't matter. I have seen many comedians and some comedy magicians expose Zombie, the one that made me cringe the most was with a plumbers ball-cock and the attached mechanism... However, with a well constructed routine, it can still fool and looks very elegant if done right. (No running around the stage pushing it ahead of you, please). Zombie should look like it has a will of it's own and you are trying to restrain it with the use of the cloth. Occasionally it pops up for a rest, (be sure to let the cloth sag under the weight)...and then it's off again. I love it!..and you did ask for some hints.

Many people are now doing the floating table, which is almost the same thing and with no disrespect to Losander and others, I still like Zombie, especially with a fire-finish and a slightly larger than standard ball. (I especially like the standard vanish and re-appearance). Of course the ball can always be changed to a light bulb (nasty)...or almost anything that might fit in with the theme of your act.

Don't forget to check out the following:

Master routine here from Neil Foster. It's an old clip but is a Master-class in the Zombie routine. (Shame about the music) There are also others on the YouTube page including Luna Shimada's Sphere of Light:

Finally, if you decide to chose a routine based on a different method or combine the two, check this out The Naked Zombie Ball:

Walt is correct. Using the search function for "Zombie Ball" or "Zombie" returns hundreds of posts.
Happy reading:

I assume you're talking about his "Favorite Mystery" ?

I recently saw that and it gave me a whole new appreciation for something I've grown weary of seeing.

Take a look at Jeb Sherrill's Zombie Re-Animated DVDs. Lots of heavy zombie stuffs there. This 2 DVD set is very good.
