I remember the one convention I met Ted He was lecturing here in Sweden and neaded a spectator to assist, me, what I didn't know was that I was going to be the spectator the whole lecture. That's sitting on stage during the whole lecture whitch was about an houer long. I think I had the best seat in the house.
Ted will be very missed.

I never med Ted.
Paramiracles was my first book in mentalism, and it is a book I pick up with great frequency. A great mentalist and creator is gone, and from what I read here, a great man and great friend of magic and others. May he rest in peace

Just logged in after quite sometime and thought I should add to this post, I had been in email contact with Ted a while back as I had at that time a German girlfiend and I was travelling to Munich quite often. Ted was generous enough to give me his personal phone number incase I visited Berlin, so that we could meet up for a session...what a nice man he was...I wish I had taken him up on that offer now...He will be sadly missed by many, A sad loss of a Giant of Magic and Mentilism....Rest in peace Ted.

I only just read about this news minutes ago. Ted was a thinker beyond what words could convey. One of the best books I have ever read and own on mentalism is his Para Miracles
I write this post now with a heavy heart and one hand holding his fantastic book. I think I will be reading from it tonight after my kids have finished their Trick or Treating and the house will be calm from the festivities. Good bye Ted I'll miss you
As magicians we create what onlookers call magic. If they truly believe in what we have created for them to witness then magic is real!!!

I've enjoyed this thread so much - with all the anecdotes and condolences it is no longer a thread - more a cyber wake.
I've not added anything till now because so many have said what I think so well. Last night I used Mr Lesley's Teleport envelope (The Sough of Horses’ Wings) in two different shows and it was the high point of both shows. R.I.P. Destiny |

Although I never met or corresponded with the man, this thread is a tribute to how a gentle soul can touch so many lives and leave this world a far richer place by his having lived the way he did.
Isn’t that what it’s all about? Goodbye Mr. Lesley. Steve |

I was lucky enough to learn about this a little bir late... In fact I did see this thread so I was thinking that he was alive and looked in my Skype often to see him on line. But Mike Monroe called me and told me that " I am sure you do not have the sad news yet". I said "Do not say anything about Ted ! ". he said" Unfortunately yes. He passed away in his sleep". I can nor define my sorrow.
I was one of the first who bought his book and then happen to see him here at the Café. It was 2002 I guess. The Café was not so much crowded and the members used to know each other by the name, location, skill etc. We fist corresponded through pm's here then moved to e-mails and phone calls. I was preparing for FISM 2003. He offered me to use his Tarot cards in my act.And he told me he has laready sent them to me. I had received two decks of Tarot cards and his videos in VHS format. He kindly asked me to critisize the videos. They were great but, for me the book was excellent. He agreed. He told me that his parkinson had slowed down his movements so he could not perform as he wished and used to. Hoewever the material helped me a lot. We became really good friends; but my sorrow is that although he wanted too much I could not arrange him to visit us in Turkey for a gig or seminar. Fortunately enough; when I have gome to the Netherlands for FISM 2003, I spared two days to visit him. I and one of my students have gone to viist him in his home. We talked about many things about magic and mentalism. He told me he heard that I was performing some of his routines and he wanted to see it if I did not mind. How could I ?. I told him I have no material with me so he let me use his. I did an Ace Duet and a mind reading joined together then I did bending the wine glass in my hand. He told that if his body would let him to do the moves in the way I did, he would never think of a "gadget" for bending. He told me that he liked it a lot. And as a souvenir he presented me his own card stand for the Ace Duet he has used in the video footage- which I still use it. he also told me that I am the only one in the world who has asked and got the permissio to use his materials as well as his patter. Nobody else asked for it (as August 2003). To make the long story short, we called each other from time to time and in the last time we tried to talk on skype but the lines were not clear. We could only say hello to each other. The last words I could hear from him were " Ohhh! It is impossible. We can not talk like this." andwe agreed to talk later for he can not type so easy. But that "later" never happened. I have lost a mentor. I used to help him on his new invention but unfortunately he could not finish. Who knows if one day I feel myself in th mood to continue I may try to finish it. Rest in peace TED. I will never forget you nor fill your space in mysoul with anything else. Just rest in peace. your faithfull apprentice ( he hated me calling myself as an apprentice.Instead he used to call me as a master-which can never be compared that of his ) Dr.TORA

I did not know Ted had passed away until today, a great loss to the mentalism community. I have fond memories of him on a UK tour many years ago when he did a lecture in Croydon. My business,Phantasm Magic had just brought out the first UK catalogue devoted to the then minority subject of mentalism and Ted kindly gave me exclusivity for his products in the UK. I remember drinking with him in the bar before the "show" and quite intrigued at his nervousness before performing. Needless to say he brought the house down in his own intimable style, rest in peace Ted
