Hello, I've been a member now for about a month, this is my first post.
I am wondering if anyone else practices coin sleights at work. I bought BOBO's book recently, and can't help handling my coins at work. I keep coins in my pocket all the time, and always have one or more in my hand. I don't do tricks for people and don't let them see me, but I am always walking around with a coin palmed. Besides just liking to do this, is it good practice? I'm looking for tips for how to improve when I don't have real practice time.

Well in my job there is often a lot of waiting time, and I do practice coins during that period, but not in the middle of Liturgy.

Agreed. I don't "practice" at work. I'm too busy and have way too many interruptions. Not to mention the ethics. I just keep coins in my hands all through the day, in different palming positions. I like to think this is helping my dexterity. At least I hope so.

Example CP to third finger finger tip rest, second finger ...ect I practise CP from pinky , third finger and second finger, and one hand coin changes while walking. Good luck and remember have fun. I am in high school, and you can rarely ever find me without a coin classic palmed. I figure, I can do all my school activities with a coin palmed, plus David Stone recommends holding a coin in palm while doing random things. I wish I could palm like Stone, he could probably palm a medium sized baby.

KC I work at an Engineering firm, and I spend all my time palming things, playing with rubber bands, etc etc etc. It works as practice and makes my day go by much faster! I always have my coins with me, and play with them between clients. It keeps my hands busy, and in shape.

Welcome kc to the Café...
You are on a friendly road as most coin folks handle coins regularly, just about anywhere... I'm actually busy at work most times as well but always find time to practice the sleights. I've done it in meetings, conference calls for sure , while on the computer, during important phone calls, on my way to the bathroom, in the bathroom, while in one on one discussions with my boss. So, I do it just about anywhere and the better you become the more matter-of-factly the actions become. You don't even think about it and it's quite hidden from others as it should be. I also practice on my way to work every morning walking through the crowded NYC streets. I used to drop the coins quite a bit at one point but not anymore... That's when you know you got it down pretty good. Only thing is I never regarded it as "practice," it was something I just sorta did but more along the lines of just fun. Enjoy your journey and again "Welcome." -Mb

My job is physically demanding and there is really no time, except at lunch, to fiddle with some coins, cards or otherwise.
There's no way I could keep coins palmed and do my job. |

When I applied for this job I thought to myself, "hey I could do spellbound all day and it won't affect my job one bit" so I took the job

I wouldn't say I practice at work but I do have one or more coins in my hands all day, work or not. That also gives some interesting opportunities when the office wise guy asks "hey...do some magic now when you don't have your trick stuff with you HAH!"

I live for the coins because I use the coins for my living. Playing with your coins at work is nothing. Playing with them when you wake up at nite to take a leak...now that's dedication! |
