Often I'm given a couple of coins and asked to do a trick. I usually do a coins across routine or something of the sort. However, I'm often caught with hands that aren't ready to do magic because of roughness or being slick.

What can I do to make it easier to handle the coins in everyday situations?

I would probably do an effect where I don't need a classic palm.

I do a french drop...and keep the coin finger palmed...instead of on a classic.

If I am seated, I'd do a lap....

Just wipe your hands off on your pants if they are a slick and that usually works. As for having hands that are dry and clammy. the only thing I could think of is using your saliva. You can take it from there.

An effective technique I find useful to cure the dry or slick hands is, and if you happen to be close to a soda is, take a bit of coca cola or the like and dash a bit on the palm. You obviously wipe it off and are left with a perfect grip everytime. It isn't sticky so that isn't an issue. I work the bar circuit and find that I am always close to a source of soda.
Try it. Smile

Wipe your hands on your pants or shirt if they are wet. If they are dry, and yes I know this sounds gross, but put your hands on your head. Even if you have really clean hair there will still be some oil on your hair.

I dampen a hankerchief in my pocket and rub my hands on that. I don`t think saliva is acceptable.

Well I wouldn't recommend the saliva option if you are going to be touching the specators.....

I have found that for slippery hands, (for coins and others, not cards) I will rub them in some climbing chalk. Smile Smile Smile Smile

Yeah, you should stick with sleights that don't require a lot of palming. French drops, click pass and all that ought to help you.

For rough hands, try breathing on them. The moisture in your hands should soften things up a bit. Smile

Yeah, CocaCola does work. Any drink that is syrupy.
