Enjoy your time at Gene Poinc's site; it's one of the most fascinating on the magic scene.
Note especially how he can take the simplest of props -- things that you wouldn't use because they often show up in kids' magic kits -- and weave an incredible story around it, to the point that you don't even pay attention to the prop. When you get to that site, you've struck gold! cheers, Peter Marucci showtimecol@aol.com |

A couple of month's ago, when I was having a vacation in LA, I took the opportunity to visit the Poinc in his cave near Paramount Studios.
My experience exceeded my expectations. I actually saw the legendary mummy hand that he mentions in his book, plus many other curios that I dare not mention. He is truly a National Living Treasure, and a creative genius to boot! I can hardly wait for the final two Practitioner books to come out written by the man I consider my magical and spiritual mentor.

Philemon, I stand in awe!
I've talked to Gene a couple of times on the phone and had considerable correspondence with him, but I would dearly love to visit him in person. (However, since I don't like to fly and he won't leave "the cave" . . .) Those who are IBM members and receive the Linking Ring magazine may remember my Showtime column of August, 2000 in which Gene did a piece and I dubbed him the "National Living Treasure" that Philemon refers to. It's a title Gene has taken a certain fondness to -- like, using it every time he can! cheers, Peter Marucci showtimecol@aol.com |

Hard to believe Gene has been gone some time now, practicing his craft in higher realms. His column in the Linking Ring still carries new ideas and his words to us. I don't know when they will run out.
