Does anyone know of a supplier of fake frozen turkeys or chicken? I'd like to find one for a comedy gag... If it isn't of the same weight or close to it, I'm sure I could drill it out and add some weight... It needs to appear to be real and from the frozen food section... you know..wrapped in the cellophane!
Any ideas? -Bryan Gilles |

Go to the supermarket and buy a real frozen fowl of the type you want to use. Carefully remove it from its wrappings. Wash the wrappings of meat juices (blood) and let dry. Stuff the wrapper with clay from the craft store- the kind that never dries up, but gets semi-hard when cold. Shape the clay as you fill the wrapper. Weigh the mass from time to time to get it approximately the same weight as the original fowl. To save on clay and reduce weight, use styrofoam as a central core. When you have achieved the look of the original fowl in the wrapper, close the wrapper and use with glee.

You would have to cover it in a real wrapper, but this could possible do the trick. Lyndel |

Just buy the latex Holiday Turkey from axtell.com and repaint it frozen or ask Axtell to paint it frozen like for you.

Lyndel... I have been known for performing "turkey magic" at my local ring for the past 14 years.
I substituted a real frozen turkey for the bowling ball. It was a disaster! Since I do these routines only once for the club, I had not modified the gimmick to hold an irregular shaped, slippery load. Worked fine in the 5 rehearsals (I had to keep the bird well frozen), but it got condensation on it just prior to the real show. As a tip, I was not going to drop the bird, but raise the pad up in front of my face and then lower it holding the bird by the mesh bag it comes in... Would have be great, but it was funny none the less! Lynn Fox |

I also thought of Steve Axtell right away. I would think he could modify his Holiday Turkey, but I'm not sure what it would cost. Also, if you are going to be dropping it I'm afraid the weight of a real turkey would do some damage to thin latex. Let us know what you decide upon and keep us posted as to how it turns out.

But surely no more damage than a bowling ball?
You could use a artificial display turkey (plastic or latex)and fill it with loose material like sawdust to give it just the right mass that will deaden it's fall/bounce.

A very generous Café' member keyed me in on an "inflatable roasted turkey" from a novelty site. It might be exactly what I've been searching for this whole time. I will need to fill it with foam and sand or something to solidify it a bit and add lots of weight.

Find a restaurant and store fixture supplier. They typically have fish, chickens and turkeys, steaks, lobsters, etc. for displays at retail stores and restaurants. Many of their decorations are useful in magic. (I have gotten foreign flags from them.)
