Yesterday I did my first Halloween show. It was for my son's class. I was a little concerned performing four a class of four year olds, but I had done a show for his birthday this year, and it went well, so I decided to go for it.
My first thought, was that I wanted to get their attention as quickly as I could, even before I started. I did this with my set design. I hav a jeff jones backdrop, and purchased a halloween backdrop from us backdrops. I put the Halloween backdrop in the middle of the jones backdrop. I also hung some ghosts an either side and some trick or treat pails. When The kids saw all this, I heard all the ohs and ahs. The show went very well. They were a few things I am going to tighten up, but for 35 minutes I had the complete attention of the children. They laughed, participated and were a joy to perform for. After the show, the teacher told me she could not believe that they were so entranced for such a long time. The best though was my son. After the show, he came up to me and said, "Dad, that was a spectacular show." |

Yes, that is how it suppose to work. When your shows build up, everything is going to get easier and easier. Now is a good time to start working on some Thanksgiving and Christmas themed shows.
