A few years ago, I saw a guy do a stunt where he had the audience follow his actions as he crossed his arms and interlocked his fingers. He was then able to immediately uncross his arms (fingers still interlocked) as the audience was still locked in the crossed position. Can anyone point me in the direction of where this stunt is explained? A PM would be fine if you don't want to post it publicly. Appreciate it.

You can see Keith Barry perform the Crossed Arms Stunt here. If you watch carefully, you should be able to figure out how it's done.

You can also find it in Einhorn's Magical Illusions, Conjuring Tricks, Amazing Puzzles and Stunning Stunts.
This book also has a similar trick that does not need the misdirection in the original. The book also has a number of "betchas" and other physical type stunts.

It's also in Andrew Mayne's "Body Morphin'"- which is where I learnt it- I love "body magic" and it's a favorate of mine ever since I performed it at my local magic club (expecting not to get away with it) and fooled a room of magicians with it!
(It's not anything like as well known to magcians as the arm twisting illusion). It's amazing how the misdirection of pretending to speak to someone works so well- but it does! |

I think it's in Joshua Jays enceyclopedia of magic as well.

This is truly a case of magicians guarding an empty safe. It's an old trick, and I feel pretty safe in saying it doesn't belong to anyone mentioned on this thread so I'm not going to insist you buy a book to learn it. Just search around the internet, it's out there.

I use it in almost every close-up, stand-up, or stage show that I do. I offers a big laugh and warms up the audience. It is an old one but a good one. I am surprised how little it is done by regional magicians.

Find a video and watch it twice. If you can't figure it out perhaps buying the 'Magic for Dummies' book is a better investment.

Its a great trick! If you cant figure it out from the video links provided then don't by a book. It'll cost about €40 just to learn the one trick,.. but I'll sell you my version! Very cheap, only €4000.
heehee Back to magic... I follow this Hand wrap with the "fingers on nose trick." Its great when people insist on seeing the Hand wrap again. Same start but new trick!! |
