Many years ago, and I mean MANY, I was able to perform Geoffrey Buckingham's Miser's Dream out of his book: "It's Easier Than You Think." This was a difficult routine requiring the back palming of multiple coins without any accessory help.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone perform this routine or similar one these days, or know of someone who does? Specifically, the back palming requirement. Again, just curious.

I never did the routine as written, but I can do the multiple back palm production. It's one of the toughest things I've ever learned. I put together a routine that uses it, but have only done it a few times for real people.

I've got the book--also had the great pleasure of seeing Geoffrey perform the act as part of his lecture.
Why, yes. I do need new pictures. Why do you ask?

It was indeed difficult to learn. Many frustrating hours along the way.

I did his actual routine, with just a few adjustments, along with the 8 ball billard presentation...back in 1964. Money was tight back then, but I was able to pick up a very used formal jacket with tails at a tuxedo rental place, along with a pair of gloves. Both for $8.00.

Funny thing, though. I was going to perform the act for the first time at a magicians annual Christmas show that year. They had a stage. However, military grabbed me On October 31st! That lasted 4 years. Once discharged, I got back into magic...cards. Never did a live performance of the Miser's Dream. Oh well.

Dynamike,

You can get it from Denny Haney, Denny and Lee Magic http://www.dennymagic.com It is very inexpensive. Well worth the money.

I think I am going to go get mine off my bookshelf right now and re-read it.

I don't think you need all the fancy moves. If you ever saw Flosso, or today Jeff McBride... none did the back palm stuff. That's just for magicians.

Think of the effect. You can pull money out of thin air, from behind people's ears, etc. None of that requires any difficult slights.

It's all in the acting.

Unless it is for self satisfaction or you like torturing yourself with the back palm, I suppose it is OK to spend time on it. LOL

I've seen Curtis Kam muti back palm and prod a stack of silver dollars one at a time, and as always he makes it looks so easy.
