A false 'Up the ladder' shuffle will serve to keep the bottom stack untouched.
A 'Hindu shuffle pick up control' will appear to bury the spectator's card in the middle of the deck whilst controling it up to the top. If one uses a marked deck then the deck can remain face down throughout the process of the cuts. The effect remains 'hands off'.If using marked cards it is best to use a 13 card stack. The suit marking for the relevant suit that has been stacked will 'jump out at you' and you will be able to end the cutting process at the appropriate time. Remember if choosing to use a marked deck to add one to the top face down marked card value to get to the location of the spectator's card. I do not offer these pointers as 'improvements' to the original. It will only be of use to those of you who retain good eyesight.Everyone will of course have their own way of performing the effect. |

If Larry Jennings discusses a method with the professor for 15 years before he decides that's the best one and then puts it in print, who the heck am I to mess with it before I have at least mastered , performed, and understood why Jennings made the choice he made. Learn the tricks as they are taught. |

Sorry, didn't mean for that to sound like I was telling you what to do, just what I think we all should do.

I have to agree. Patter can change but the trick and main patter points like not bringing attention to one of the 10 stack cards should remain.

Actually you can. I do just what Thomas does, except I am going for Lazy Man and use Bannon's Triumph as my "plan b"...

Sorry for the double post, but another slight change I make is to move the ace above the king for a duece thru ace straight. Makes a slight change to the LM count, but I feel the ace looks too fishy on the bottom... Obviously, that reverses the Bannon Triumph layout, but it still works the same.

Fish-
Please explain how you "can't miss the force" when they must choose one of 13 cards in a full deck? What if you cut to the middle, as Ammar teaches, but they INSIST they want the bottom card, for example. "Miss the force" includes those times where a savvy or experienced spec won't play along, no? How do you avoid that? Jim

Well like I said, this discussion is ongoing over on the workers thread. The spectator does not have a choice of thirteen of fifty two, and I've no idea how Mr. Ammar teaches it. I do it as taught by its creator, John Bannon.

Its worth buying. I like Simon Aronson thinking on this trick in Simply Simon (that culminates in Everybody's Lazy).

Variations are nice, but sometimes simplicity is the best. Harry's Close-Up Card Magic has been a top seller for more years than I care to remember.
Harry, probably more than anyone is history has come up with thousands of entertaining card plots that he presents in his own remarkable style. No, he doesn't offer knuckle busting slights....just an opportunity to learn solid entertainment. |

The Lazy Man's Card Trick appears as Too Tired in "Magic with Cards" by Garcia and Schindler -- but they don't give any credit.

The "Too Tired" presentation goes back to Dante (the magician, not the poet), who created the character of the tired magician, which in turn inspired Al Koran to develop the trick known as the Lazy Man's Card Trick. Al Koran admits, that the title of the trick was actually poorly chosen (source: Lazy Man's Card Trick by Al Koran in "New Pentagram" Vol.5, Issue 4, June 1973).
