I was examining one of my Johnson shells and noticed it is an "old" (1972) shell [heads].
I am finding that the "new" 1996-2008? coins are slightly thinner than the old and thus the shell has better coverage. I've also heard that tails shells offer more coverage. Which combination of coins/shells (Johnson) covers the most? Pics please? |

I have a 72, 83, 95. The 95 seems to cover the best. All three are heads. Unfortunately Im at work and don't have a camera to snap a shot.

Here's the coverage of my Johnson 1972 Exp. shell (heads) nested over a 1977 half... pretty bad imo.:
I really want to help myself and others make informed decisions on the coverage of shells... thanks and please... don't tell me "Go buy lassen/schoolcraft'. SH |

Sorry, one more question... do you guys like to use "Big head" (old, pre-1985)? halves or "Small head"

Johnson came out with an improved Ultimate Expanded Shell which covers more of the coin. You can check out the details Here
They make the shell in both Heads and Tails. It is much better than the older shells. Cheers! ** Bill ** |

So that means I got a bad shell?
How can you tell if your shell is Ultimate/regular? Bill, can you post a pic of your Ultimate expanded shell like mine? TY |

I would love to see a picture as well. Are these shells available in silver?

I have a Kueper's quarter shell, but not sure I'm crazy about it. Can someone recommend a decent half shell?
