Just curious, didn't this whole thing kinda like start here, with a Posted Question from Danny, asking, "What twenty questions...?" With the promise, " your questions will be answered."
So do I understand this right, or did I simply mis-understand it to begin with,... or am I simply a niave idiot. But, to hear 'the answers', we have to now pay sixty dollars and buy a DVD? hmmmmm,... shouldn't the `questions asker' maybe get a cut? OK, I know this probably comes across as a bit silly, and in reality I kinda knew this was coming down the track,... but isn't the Magic Café somehow grounded with the thought "Magicians Helping Magicians"? ,.... or was that,"Magicians Helping Themselves"? I know, "niave, idealistic blabber,... falsely punctuated...", but hey, what can you expect; I'm only a Busker. over a few hills and around a few bends, but not pulled over the table. gallagher |

Go ahead and ask for a cut! It can't hurt. Tell us tho, how much should your cut be? If he's putting out a DVD he IS helping you. Levent did a similar thing when he put out the Miser's Dream DVD which is/was one of the BEST DVDs ever made. I expect similar things from Levent's billard ball DVD and Kozmo's DVD.
You're sounding like a selfish and greedy busker today.

By the way, thanks, everyone, for the kind words about the Castle and about me...I appreciate it...
I'm proud of the new "tales" set.....if someone has talent, I think this will certainly increase the learning curve... Thanks, koz |

If any of you are in the southern PA / northern MD area, come out to see Koz lecture on December 13th. It's gonna be a great night. We have the details posted in the "So happy together" section.
It's good seeing more busking style performers get recognition. With all the Joshua Jays out there, we need more street guys making names for themselves.

Gathering your crowd to start your show. The great unknown. The big nasty.
Keeping most magicians from even attempting street performing, or similar. Scared stiff due to possible failure. One of the 2 major hurdles (the easier of the 2, actually) that separates the street entertainers from the corp. or restaurant workers. Nobody paid to see you. Nobody is waiting for food and has to sit and watch. Brrr... Scary!!!! If you're like me, when I started thinking about performing this kind of show, I thought... "There's no way I'm going to be able to go out there and start yelling, screaming, banging stuff, dancing while I use a tambourine, and wearing god knows what to gather a crowd. NOT A CHANCE IN !!HELL!!" I watched disc #1 last night. GREAT! It shows better than anything I've seen previously what it's like to build a crowd from nothing with something simple, direct, easy to follow, humorous, and basic. Use it or just the ideas it teaches, which are numerous. Unlike many other performers, Kozmo builds a crowd without screaming and yelling, without noisemakers, no cat juggling or lighting kids on fire. In other words, even those that are new and less confident can watch, learn, and see what needs to (and can) be done. You'll see that Kozmo's attempt does not work perfectly, which is exactly what happens on the street. Very realistic from my experience. You'll see how he works thru that, presses on and gets 'em anyway. Brilliantly simple. Danny Hustle (whoever that is) also does a good job on the DVD as an interviewer.

I'm looking forward to seeing this. Even if I never hit the streets, it looks like there are things to be learned that would apply in other situations.

I watched the rest of Disc 1 last night. I can't believe I'm only half way thru this.
The rest of the interview was fantastic. I would easily and without reservation consider this the best DVD for a beginning street worker. And I haven't even seen disc #2 yet. It's hard to choose between this and Cellini's "Art of #1," but I think this would get you out there sooner and more prepared. And again, a great job of interviewing by Danny. He was very involved and not just asking questions. He knew when to talk, knew what to add on his own, and when to shut up.

Frank, DVD #2 is the performances and explanations, plus some bonuses at the end. Just for the fun of it, you should check out those bloopers. A good way to make a person laugh.
I agree with you dealing with DVD #1. He knew what to put on it because Danny Hustle asked us what we wanted on a different thread. I can not see how a amateur or professional can go wrong purchasing the two disk set "Tales From The Streets" - Kozmo. Oh, Frank, Kozmo also mentions how to put the table together and carry it around. And yes, he does mention your name. |
