I hope somebody out there can help me with this question. I am looking to buy videos (or DVDs) of Bugs Bunny cartoons. Specifically, I am looking for the cartoons that used to air in the mid to late 1970s on CBS on Saturday mornings. It was a 90-minute show called "The Bugs Bunny Road Runner Show." The show would feature several cartoons with Bugs, Road Runner, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Pepe Le Pew, Sylvester, Tweety, and others. THESE ARE GREAT CARTOONS! I loved them as a kid, and think that there is a lot of adult humor in them as well. I would like to buy these if anybody knows where they are for sale. I did buy a set off of Ebay, but they were Bugs Bunny cartoons from an earlier era (1950s?) and weren't of the same quality as the ones I used to watch in the late 1970s.
Any help or information would be appreciated. Something tells me, however, that these cartoons can longer be gotten. BlockBuster video no longer carries videos of those cartoons, but they used to. Maybe I'm wrong on that..... Thanks!

Hi Fhood,
I would still check out video stores to see if they can help. They have a booklets behind the counter of vids you can order that are not necessarily found on the shelf. Good luck on your search. |

Don't forget to find the one where Bugs has the magic duel with the vampire! It's full of classic magic words and what can go wrong when you mix them up, such as "Abracapocus!", "Hocuscadabra!", or even "Wallawallawashington!". He sings the song "It's Maaah-gic" in one episode too, with his own lyrics.
I have seen tape collections of the later cartoons that some of my friends own, I suspect you just have to find the right source. There are some Looney Tunes web pages that list every episode by title, date, and synopsis. If you find the titles of the ones you want (probably by checking the year), you should be able to tell which tapes on Ebay have the material you are looking for. I have heard though that some of these tapes have quite new filler animation in places which is not very good at all, so be prepared for the quality to be all over the place. -Reg {*}

Reg,
I remember that cartoon with the vampire and Bugs Bunny! Those are the ones I'm talking about. There was also another where Porky Pig and Sylvester spend the night in a spooky haunted house. Only Sylvester witnesses the spooky going-ons while Porky Pig sleeps unaware. All of those cartoons are great. I'm still looking for them. Thanks for your information, too!

Here's some news about the upcoming Looney Tunes DVD release from a recent chat with Warner reps:
Quote:
All of the LOONEY TUNES cartoons are being remastered from new film elements made from the original negatives. We have an extensive program planned that finally unites both the pre-'48 Turner-owned cartoons and the WB cartoons. The first big release will be later this year and contain oodles of extras directed towards the classic animation fans. Several respected animation experts are participating on the special features as we speak. Fans of THE GOLDEN AGE OF LOONEY TUNES LD sets will not be disappointed! source link |

Thanks for all of your info! I'm always amazed at this particular forum here at the Magic Café -- no matter how "far-out" or "off the wall" a question may be, somebody out there usually has some very good information or answers!
Thanks again!
