Eric Ross has created a gem of a card trick.

Two spectators are each given a deck of cards and instructed to pick a card behind their backs. When revealed the spectators have chosen the same card with a special twist at the end.

Election is sure to leave your audience speechless.

Looks like a neat effect....anyone purchased this?? Are the decks examinable by the spectators beforehand at all?
If I speak forth, many a mind will shatter,
And if I write, many a pen will break.
.....and when I consider my own self, lo, I find it coarser than clay!

Just watched the demo. This seems to be very much like Blind Luck by Dan Paulus just with 2 people picking cards instead of one.

Blind Luck
Effect: A spectator freely chooses one of two decks, red or blue (not a force.) Whichever deck he chooses will be the deck he will use, the other deck will be placed aside. Our spectator reverses one card sight unseen from his chosen deck. The deck that was placed aside is now spread on the table by the spectator to find the exact same card is reversed in this deck!

Now the kicker!- The two cards are turned over to show that not only do they match, but each card has the back design from the opposite deck!

No sleights, no trick decks, no extra cards!
Everything seems to work in the spectator's hands!

That is Blind Luck...just without one of the packs being a prediction pack, so both in play at once, and possibly using a few more cards to cover

Exactly what I thought. I have Blind luck, great effect. It should be named Election by Dan Paulus.

Can the spectators look at the deck to see cards are different?
Or can we show the cards are all different before the effect?

You can show that the cards are different and it can be a different card every time.

Er... it wasn't clear, but is the one version doable with only a borrowed deck?

Can be easily performed with borrowed deck(s) but a little setup is needed.

Paper Crane Productions called me about this, which is itself a classy move, and yes this is pretty much Blind Luck with a few more cards added as a buffer.
There is one handling variation that PCP agrees is not enough to differentiate it from Blind Luck.
Magic City in California owns the rights to Blind Luck and PCP will be contacting them too.

That being said, Paper Crane took the ethical and classy road to handle this soon. I know other online magic sites that wouldn't/didn't go to such lengths.
Thanks Ted for keeping some dignity in magic.

Would of been classier if they did their research before the cat was out of the bag.

Eric, is a very good thinker. Research is important and doing the right thing is important as well, however give props that he came up with this independently. This happens a lot, but paper crane is and seems like they will do the right thing always!
