Right, and like gravity, what was believed to be truth by the scientific community and the world in general, can be turned on its head with a theory. And like gravity, what the general population believes it to be may be the relative complete opposite of what it is.

Short answer - yes, skeptical inquiry is a good thing.

Yet both are successful theories, supported mathematically and both have been verified countless times by observation. So where exactly is that truth you speak of? |

Dan, I don't know if you caught my comments on General Relativity (it is in my previous post) but as we know, it states the complete opposite of gravity than Newton theorized. Yet people accept the Newtonian view as a fact (even though it has holes in it) and they praise Einstein for his theories on Relativity, but they do not know they contradict each other. I think John used the "gravity" example tongue-in-cheek. (John is like that ) Didn’t Einstein use mathematics to disprove Newton??? He's a very clever man, that John Cesta, and a bit of a minx! Um... not really, Tony, but a good point nonetheless.

Seems like opposite views to me. (I don't want to go into the specifics here, and I would probably mess up, dealing with mass of an object distorting space and space pushing back at the object...) |

Dan, how does the fact that two different paradigms for understanding the functioning of the universe contradict each other deny the value of truth?

SCIENCE doesn't need an explanation for anything.
PEOPLE need an explanation for things. They use the SCIENTIFIC TECHNIQUE to try and find that explanation. Simply put, to explain something correctly, you must first investigate and find proof. It is PEOPLE want to know if Psychic Phenomena exists or not.
