Corinda (at least I think I read this in Corinda) suggests doing a "challenge seance" for publicity. The magician (you) challenges a "psychic" to perform any sort of supernatural phenomenon that you cannnot replicate by natural means.
This doesn't really appeal to me at all, but it got my mind working. In the book of Exodus in the Bible, Pharaoh's magicians are able to replicate the first few signs that Moses shows (water to blood, production of gnats, turning a stick into a snake). But then when all the livestock die, darkness envelops the land for days, everyone in the city is afflicted with boils, etc... the magicians knew they were dealing with a power greater than their own mere craft. In a similar vein, why not set up a challenge seance with you as the psychic? The magician runs the show and for about half an hour debunks your powers by replicating the things you do by natural means. Then you start to unleash some things that the "magician" can't explain...darker more frightening things. The show becomes yours and the night starts to turn very bizarre. I would like to work up a show something like this.Does anyone else think this sounds like a good idea? |

I think it sounds like a lot of fun; very unique! (Kind of a planned Randi/Geller fiasco, not that Randi and Geller weren't in cahoots from the beginning - THEY MADE EACH OTHER FAMOUS! ). With this idea our fairytale would have a much different ending.
This type of 'Reverse Challenge Seance' for publicity and to make a LOUD, DEFINITIVE STATEMENT is wonderful. As a director and choreographer this concept, plot and premise has a lot of appeal to me and I would love to hear where you go with it should you choose to move forward. Best of luck! -Jerome

This is quite an interesting idea. There was a thread that had run about a year and a half ago or so that dealt with a "Mage War" so to speak...magician against magician in a series of planned public events. I like the idea of the stage show that you (as the psychic) take over.....but what about taking it to another level...what if there were a series of seemingly unplanned events between the magi and psychic?
