I've done one or two books, a few sets of notes. And soon a DVD.
I love to create stuff there is no better feeling for me than performing my own routines. I enjoy using my own stuff so much more. Luke Jermay. |

I've just recently come up with three tricks. I've been working on making the prototype versions and they seem to go over well with people.
They all have a creepy look to them. Imagine if Tim Burton was a magician. They're basically variations on already established themes, but I feel I added my own spice. I would like to post them with some pics on the web. Anyone do cheap web hosting? That way I can see what everyone thinks and whether or not they are marketable. |

I have a few things on the market. One is a small booklet called "Simple Signals." It has three simple two-person telepathy methods for transmitting playing cards. Two methods are silent. The spoken code doesn't have any "code words" to memorize. It doesn't matter *what* words you say, it's *how* you say them! Both the Linking Ring and Magic magazines gave it a good review.
I also have a booktest using "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." It's put out by Joe Lefler, who also makes the excellent "Supreme Slate of Mind." Finally, I have a "Pride and Joy" type of photo. Would you like to see a picture of my honey in her bikini? Go here: http://www.ncsanta.com/honey/ I use the photo as a giveaway with a label printed with my info on the back. Tate |

I have some stuff published, but a lot more that's not. It's true that you enjoy performing your material more. You know the trick, and the patter usually comes pretty freely.

I have had several tricks published, however, there's only one I still use in my act today. It's published in a book entitled Comedy Funnel Magic by Micky Hades. It's called the Turkish Milk Bath where I pour milk into a styrofoam cup and place a card on top of it and then invert the whole mess on top of an assistant's head. I pull out the card, for I have trouble reading the directions on the card. The milk vanishes, turning into confetti, etc.

Andrew:
I got an idea for doing a retention vanish with a coin by watching the movements of a blackjack dealer picking up losing bets off the table. At times she would pick up a chip with the right hand and transfer the chip to the left hand, turning her left palm down depositing the chip to the chip rack. I thought about how easy it would be to (cop) a couple of greenies or a black chip. So instead of just making a coin vanish I talk about how a crooked dealer could make extra money on the side. The vanish and the story goes over really well with laypeople and other magicians.
Self concept is destiny..

I've created a few tricks of my own which I use.
I've done a few laminated packet card tricks, one of which shows 5 cards apparently depicting santas on both sides, and then we see that pictures of Chirstmas presents appear on the cards. I've made up a little effect in which an Egyptian symbol is taken from a small sarcophagus and placed underneath a card . The symbol vanishes and reappears inside the sarcophagus. This was designed for an Egyptian act I put together last year, so is unique and not available. There are a few others - but that's just a taster. Cheers. Brian.

I have an original (I think...I hope!) Salt Vanish that I posted a brief video of recently over on Magic Video Depot. If you take a look I'd appreciate any feedback.
Caveat: I shot the video with a digital camera that only shoots short Quicktime movie files of 15-20 seconds each, so it's very short. I will be posting a longer version soon. I just put it up to get some reaction to the vanish phase. The full routine that I'm going to use my salt vanish idea with involves showing a salt shaker full of salt, then borrowing a coin. Cover the salt shaker with a handkerchief or napkin, vanish the coin. When the handkerchief is lifted off the salt shaker the salt is gone and inside the salt shaker is the coin, which is rattled around inside the salt shaker. The salt shaker cap is unscrewed and the coin is dumped out and returned to the spectator. I'm going to get this shot with a real video camera soon, so the whole routine will be posted on Magic Video Depot for feedback. A friend pointed out to me that the great weakness in the version I currently have posted is that I don't show the handkerchief empty after pulling it away from the shaker. I was working a bit too fast to try to get it done in under 20 seconds, so it's true that I whipped that hank away very fast. In the real version I do, in fact, show the handkerchief empty as I pull it away from the salt shaker. |

I have created a few more since my last post:
Transposed—Jokers and court cards switch places one at a time The Joker Knows—A joker reveals a selected card in a very creative way Twisted Brainwave—A packet of four face down cards are shown and said to be the four queens. The magician asks the spectator to think of one queen then to say the selection out loud. The magician shows that her choice is the only fd card. Then he reveals that her queen is the only blank card out of the four. -Blake-

I recently created a four ace routine where they get lost, get found, switch with jokers, go face up face down, I call it Crazy Aces. No published effect though. Oh I also invented a force that is very simple, easy, and convincing.
